Ordinary Russians are in despair over the disaster of the Ukraine War. The Kremlin referring to it as an actual "war" after two years of dancing around the issue has only made things worse. Ordinary Russians were poor before the war, and the war has only made them more poverty-stricken. Putin expected his invasion of Ukraine to vault Russia to level of prestige it had after it took part in the defeat of Germany in WWII, with western countries rushing to meet with him and provide concessions to Russia. I would call Avdiivka actual success. A strategic and heavily fortified city, Ukraine didn't want to let it go. I'm sure you'll find reasons to downplay it. My question to you is what is the contingency plan if Russia do begin to topple more towns and villages? Surely it is not to break the Russian will by giving Russian state media important strategic victories to celebrate? More importantly, if you're wanting to reserve a stable negotiating position, this sort of thing seems to weigh heavily into the amount of leverage (or lack thereof) Ukraine retains. Reports on the ground seem to indicate Russia are able to rotate troops into and out of action to rest them and an inordinate amount of Russian troops are amassing along the Zaporizhzhia front. Whether they will continue making key advances remains to be seen, to be fair. I would just like to know what the contingency plan is if Russia begins advancing at an increased pace?

Russia also has some 55,000 foreign troops they have hired as mercs. So they train them for a week or so and send them to the front lines. Russia isn't losing as many troops as the west thinks they are. At one time yes they did, but Putin is using foreigners to die for him to the tune of some pretty good money (for them). They hire 5 foreigners for every russian soldier. That also gives Putin enough bodies to field another 3 million soldiers without losing a single Russian soldier. Sanctions are not having the effect Biden thinks they are. Sanctions haven't done anything to NK, it's even helped him further his nuclear proliferation. NK currently is the 6th largest nuclear power in the world and quickly advancing to possibly Top 3 by the end of 2027. If I had the power, I'd snap my fingers and no more internet. The internet is paying for NK's nuclear program with them laughing at our immature financial system that a 5th grader can hack.
