Naming the street in front of Russia's ambassador's home after Navalny is even better. I assume that resolution will pass.
love how they are going after the plants and industries associated with the manufacturing of the missiles. amazed at their level of success. imaginign they must be getting some help from within Russia Explosion Hits Russian Space Agency’s Siberian Rocket Engine Facility (msn.com) Russian sources identify the site of the explosion as a state-run military research center in Biysk, characterized as a “high-security plant.” Known as the Federal Research and Production Center in Altai and reportedly owned by Roscosmos, the plant is involved in the production of various defense-related materials, including rocket engine components and explosives. ........................................................... The Federal Research and Production Center in Altai is recognized for its role in developing cutting-edge technologies aligned with global standards. However, its activities have drawn scrutiny due to its involvement in manufacturing military products utilized in conflicts such as the ongoing war in Ukraine.
losing ground due to lack of artillery. at least they made it very expensive real estate to give up. surprised that they don't have enough manpads to keep the planes off of them Ukraine withdrawing from Avdiivka, where outnumbered defenders held out for 4 months (msn.com) Ukraine’s military chief said early Saturday that he’s withdrawing troops from the city of Avdiivka in eastern Ukraine, where outnumbered defenders battled a Russian assault for four months. ....................................... Rodion Kudriashov, deputy commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade, said Friday that Ukrainian troops were still holding out against the onslaught of about 15,000 Russian soldiers, but he expected the situation would “soon become critical.” “The enemy is trying to penetrate our defense and in some places to bypass our positions,” he told The Associated Press. The 3rd Brigade said on its social media account Friday that its soldiers were at the huge Avdiivka Coke Plant. Russian warplanes have been dropping about 60 bombs a day, relentlessly shelling the area and launching assaults with armor and infantry, the brigade said.
MSN Kim Jung Un and Putin team up to blast a massive hole inthe middle of a Ukrainian forest. Hundreds of trees were likely killed.
Well, there is zero incentive for the Russians to have killed him. Navalny was a CIA asset used to sow discontent in Russia. Problem is he was polling 3-5% as a Putin opponent and was widely regarded by Russians as a traitor to Russia … Death of Aleksei Navalny: the Brits did it!
MSN Ukrainian forces shot down two Russian Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 fighter in the skies over eastern Ukraine on Saturday, the country’s air force chief said. The claims have not been independently verified, but if true would represent a loss to Moscow of advanced warplanes worth in excess of $100 million (£79 million) in total. ‘On the morning of February 17, 2024, in the eastern (sector), units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed three enemy aircraft at once – two Su-34 fighter-bombers and one Su-35 fighter,’ Mykola Oleshchuk wrote on Telegram.
Ordinary Russians are in despair over the disaster of the Ukraine War. The Kremlin referring to it as an actual "war" after two years of dancing around the issue has only made things worse. Ordinary Russians were poor before the war, and the war has only made them more poverty-stricken. Putin expected his invasion of Ukraine to vault Russia to level of prestige it had after it took part in the defeat of Germany in WWII, with western countries rushing to meet with him and provide concessions to Russia. Despair in Russia as Putin Spirals Out of Control
I would call Avdiivka actual success. A strategic and heavily fortified city, Ukraine didn't want to let it go. I'm sure you'll find reasons to downplay it. My question to you is what is the contingency plan if Russia do begin to topple more towns and villages? Surely it is not to break the Russian will by giving Russian state media important strategic victories to celebrate? More importantly, if you're wanting to reserve a stable negotiating position, this sort of thing seems to weigh heavily into the amount of leverage (or lack thereof) Ukraine retains. Reports on the ground seem to indicate Russia are able to rotate troops into and out of action to rest them and an inordinate amount of Russian troops are amassing along the Zaporizhzhia front. Whether they will continue making key advances remains to be seen, to be fair. I would just like to know what the contingency plan is if Russia begins advancing at an increased pace?
I don’t doubt that some people are upset, but seems to me he has successfully taken out all of his opposition, and what is left in Russia just accepts whatever he does, whether they like it or not. Overall life is reasonably comfortable for most. Worth the read. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/a...lson-trip-russophilia-putin-interview/677488/ I tend to think that the constant refrain that Putin is in trouble and backlash is rising is bullshit. It may be true many oppose it but they likely won’t do anything about it.
Make that four. Patriots doing work MSN On Saturday, February 17, the Ukrainian Air Force Command announced that three enemy aircraft were shot down on the eastern front: Two Su-34 bombers and one Su-35 fighter — the most advanced serially produced Russian military aircraft. However, the invaders suffered more losses; on the morning of Sunday, February 18, the takedown of another Su-34 bomber was confirmed.
Russia also has some 55,000 foreign troops they have hired as mercs. So they train them for a week or so and send them to the front lines. Russia isn't losing as many troops as the west thinks they are. At one time yes they did, but Putin is using foreigners to die for him to the tune of some pretty good money (for them). They hire 5 foreigners for every russian soldier. That also gives Putin enough bodies to field another 3 million soldiers without losing a single Russian soldier. Sanctions are not having the effect Biden thinks they are. Sanctions haven't done anything to NK, it's even helped him further his nuclear proliferation. NK currently is the 6th largest nuclear power in the world and quickly advancing to possibly Top 3 by the end of 2027. If I had the power, I'd snap my fingers and no more internet. The internet is paying for NK's nuclear program with them laughing at our immature financial system that a 5th grader can hack.
