I encourage you to call the folks at the UF Foundation and ask why you don’t see the Florida Victorious Collective on the Giving Day list. Especially when donor points are given for donations to NIL collectives at other schools in the SEC. It says a lot about this university’s priorities. Having an elite football program isn’t one of them.

The school isn't allowed to donate to the collective, so you can't donate to the school and have them forward the money there. Different accounts.

There’s nothing under the revised 2023 NIL law that prevents indirect fundraising by the UF Foundation for any nonprofit NIL entity and allowing donees to get points for it. Hint…Texas A&M came up with the idea first and it’s why DeSantis changed the law in 2023. We’re tying one hand behind our back by not doing it when all of the top programs in other states are being much more aggressive.

I thought our athlete's cushy facilities had already been brought up to snuff in the arms race? Wasn't the focus supposed to shift to improvements to the fan experience in the stadium at this point?

I think plenty understand that. I think they don’t understand why there isn’t a clear emphasis by the school to push fan support to the collective which benefits all sports. It’s clear they are prioritizing facilities. It’s not a facilities race anymore. It’s an NIL race. UF always seems a step behind.

Because it isn’t true. Both the NCAA
and state law now allow for it to happen. What isn’t technically allowed (yet) by the NCAA is the preferred donor point system that Texas and Texas A&M use under their state NIL law for NIL donations collected through the school. But the state can sue for antitrust violations.

I bought a block F hat from the bookstore a couple years ago. I think I’m due for a new game day shirt though. Current one is actually from the Meyer era! Wow. Time to do my part.

I’m not a legal expert but there is a difference between UF raising NIL money to give to FV versus UF posting a NIL section with an external link routing to FV.

It’s a completely ridiculous system. 100% pay to play and pretend it’s not. Make pretend rules and enforce what? It’s pretty insulting.

Exactly !! Facilities are down the list but ahead of academics . There are people on the forum here spouting about we are (now ) #2 in public universities and think these players actually take that aligns with that utopian curriculum.

Dude. The NCAA is coming after schools on enforcement actions for NIL violations. We are on the list.

While I'm not saying you are wrong, the whole area is so muddled and uncertain that it's best to err on the side of caution.

But.. just curious: how does having the name of the collective on the UF Foundation list help our football program? Serious question.

A dollar that goes into NIL is better for the program than a dollar that goes into facilities or other things affiliated with athletics

For nearly all students and 99.99% of athletes us being #2 public vs #10 public makes zero difference in their current or future life (earnings).

Are you kidding? Having the full weight of the university’s fundraising apparatus behind you is a gamechanger. It’s happening everywhere else but here. And no, the NCAA is not going after schools that indirectly promote NIL—their guidance in the Fall of 2023 was specifically updated to allow it. They are going after schools and collectives that negotiate deals and play players before they arrive on campus.
