I bet you'll like NS....he's real left wing. Great lyrics.

Amongst the cypress and quartz I roamed
I learned to wince at the church bell’s toll
    Preferred katydids and thunder’s roll
    It never felt all bad

haha: I’ll die where I stand if I hear wagon wheel again

in a slow year. they have a spoken word spaghetti western alb, jap dream pop alb, folky alb, lots of psych rock albs, soul/funk/dance stuff & it all works. For this alb they added frets to their guitars....really great alb, the guitars have a middle eastern/sitar-y vibe. here it is in live form....dammit, I am gonna get nothing done today.

There is such an amazing psych music scene in Australia right now. KGLW, Gum, Pond, Tame Impala, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Babe Rainbow....

It's an embarrassment of riches. I plan to visit for a music festival in the next 2-3 years.

I'm not a huge fan of Gizz's really hard stuff (and I didn't care for newest synth record either) but their mellower stuff is incredible. Paper Mache Dream Balloon, Quarters, Laminated Denim, Omnium Gatherum, Fishing for Fishies, Sketches of Brunsick East are all fantastic.

I dont know if RBCF qualifies as 'psych,' but they are extremely my jam. If it jangles, I probably like it.

yeah not psych. But still a part of that Australian scene. There are a few others that aren't psych that I enjoy a lot like Dope Lemon and Boy & Bear

like it. reminds me of the Fall.

speaking of Aussies....this if from way back.....maybe the roots of the modern scene.

also, 2 gizz dudes' side project.....their latest alb to me is very S. cal/ Laurel Canyon Byrds-y style "country"

A couple of solid additions here. Surprised Eric Johnson wasn’t mentioned already. Cliffs of Dover might the most wicked guitar instrumental I’ve heard. It’s a great tune to boot. And Tom Morello has such a unique style. Love his work.

Yeah, I thought my musical knowledge was fairly broad, and I’ve been playing catch up for a couple pages.
It’s been refreshing to discover some new stuff.

    Bottom of a pint glass
Inlaws volunteered to watch the kids last night so the wife and I had a date night and decided to catch some live music. Happened upon what's probably the best bluegrass guitarist I've ever seen live. A dude named Cody Kilby touring with the Travelin McCourys. He solos at around the 2:30 mark. The mandolin player is bluegrass legend Del McCourys son and also shreds the mandolin
