Dang- Saturday weather looking more and more like a wash out... Does anyone know the rules for playing a twin-bill late on Sunday afternoon/evening? Assuming weather clears by mid day Sunday-- play a 9 and 7 inning games, with first game starting at 1 or 2 pm. It may depend on St. John's travel plans.
Believe you me if they up and said DH on Friday I'm ready to go. The call to Play Ball can't come soon enough. As to Sunday, I can't see a DH with rain still forecast in the morning and unknown when it will leave. St Johns is too far away for their travel. If we were playing Jax or Stetson then I could see the argument if both sides really wanted to play.
Other programs around FL will be washed out, as well. Teams like JU, UNF, FAMU, Stetson, USF, BCC, UCF will be open to adding midweek games to fill in the sched. A visitor payday from UF, may be better revenue than a home game for some. UF may do a home-home deal to attract Gator fans in those areas.
Are we paying St. John's as we do in football or are they just happy to come to the "Sunshine State" during winter? If so, do we pay rain or shine, play or not?
Had the pleasure of meeting Caj's father last night at Jesuit/Plant preseason game. He is a coach for Plant. We played the first game against Newsome. His father is a nice dude and says possible of a DH Sunday if rain clears out.
Ha, I know for me I am really trying to soak up this time as we all know good times are not always a given. We’ve been really blessed with Sully as the last couple of years and other sports have taught me to cherish it when it’s good. We got so used to winning during Spurrier and Meyer’s days and then the next 10 or 11 years have been very difficult.
I just heard an interview with Cags. He was on Gator Tales with Sean Kelley. I'm fired up now! Let's Go Gators!!! Let's get this W to start us rollin!
"Time is just a cumular limit Which with one glimpse can overcome" -semi-obscure Yardbirds song I don't know what it means but the song is pretty good. It was on the Little Games album and also on the rare Cumular Limit CD and the vinyl Yardbirds '68 albums. I have them all.
I came here explicitly looking and hoping for this post! I've been lurking a long time.. especially during baseball games where I prefer to watch the thread as much as the games. I rarely post, so I'm sure you all wouldn't remember me...BUT I feel like I know most of you regulars I'm excited for another year. I'm thankful for the program we have. I'm a sentimental for what a great year we just enjoyed and a touch sad for how it ended. But most of all I'm just excited to be able to follow these again let's do it! And thanks to GatorGal04 more than anything for these threads and the play by play! (PS: William Blake! William Blake? William Blake!)
