The reality is that under the Electoral College system a third party candidate has absolutely no chance of winning an election. The last time a third-party candidate received any EC votes at all was in 1968 when George Wallace received 46 out of 535 votes in the EC and the last time a third-party candidate even finished second was in 1912 when Theodore Roosevelt received 88 votes in the EC and still lost in a landslide to Woodrow Wilson by an EC margin of 435 to 88.

The reality is that the winner of the next presidential election will be an elderly cognitively diminished candidate. The differences between the two is that one actually has a record of accomplishments and listens to his advisors. The alternative is even more cognitively diminished although he is somewhat younger, has obvious psychiatric problems, has strong authoritarian tendencies, has a history of kowtowing to foreign dictators and thinks that he knows everything about everything.

Until it happens, it is just rumor and speculation.

One day we will move on to the "acceptance" stage of Election 2024. We're obviously not there yet.

Again if nothing ever happened for the first time, life wouldn’t be on this planet. Of course it seems ludicrous to suggest a third party will win this year, but this must be the case some day.

More importantly, Im certainly not saying that there aren’t good reasons to vote for Biden. You’ve explicated them nicely. I’m just suggesting that this isn’t the only valid way to look at the problem. It doesn’t always have to be about results. Even if sanctions against Russia never do hinder their war effort, they can still be the right thing to do.

Unless the Electoral College is changed in some way there is no path to winning. In addition, each state has different rules for even getting on the ballot.

Exactly the point. What a better way to cure our divide? And, they are both level-headed, experienced statesmen.

I think they’d pull the undecideds, the independents and moderates. This is a ticket, at least for me, where I would be voting FOR the candidates instead of AGAINST someone. How nice that would be, for a change.

I don’t know. I think our Country is starved for a better choice than what is offered. I think our Country is desperate for adult leadership.

A Rommey-Manchin ticket would help Biden. . Manchin.corruptly. made millions in coal. The children of Romney, Biden, Pelosi and Kerry all got lucrative gigs ine Ukraine.cespool.

Really? I fail to see how this would help Biden. I see independents, moderate Republicans, and dissatisfied Democrats as getting an alternative option for their vote. Trump's base is rock solid, much more than Biden's. Biden almost certainly needs to do well with independents along with getting some "never Trump" Republicans to vote his way.

I agree. That’s the fear of a strong independent ticket.

Yep. Wish we had the likes of Trump again, where neither he nor his kids financially benefitted from the Office.

The issue is a structural one. With all states except two being winner take all there simply is no path to 270. I wish that it was different but…
