We aren’t alone. UGA recently lost two assistants and the UTenn RB coach just bolted for the same job in the B10. People make too much out of coaching departures. My business has a nearly 17% annual attrition rate nationally and is completely stable. Coaches can and will leave for varying reasons. We don’t know if Stapleton was courted, asked to leave, or just needed a change in life. We know the S&C coach pulled a d1ck move. Zero chance he revealed that possibility in his interviews. I see this as an opportunity to restructure. Fortunately, recruitment is nearly over as the class is pretty much locked up outside of one more portal opening 8 believe. One foot in front of the other Gator fans. It was always going to be a tough rebuild after three failed coaching tenures. Go Gators!
And then let’s start again ! Everything will be just great. Right ? I think you overrate the UF Athletics brand. We have had flashes of great but generally if you but the complete book together Florida is an average programs in both sports. It’s the truth . We all know that but don’t want to believe it. If we can finish in the top 1/4 of the SEC that is about what we are . As Ron Zook once said “ it is what it is “ before fighting on frat row. But you want to blow it up once again . Good luck
I think the offense is serviceable enough. You have to get to the other 2/3 of the game first. Not gonna outscore teams .
UF is so far away from being in the top 1/4 of the SEC, imho. The truth is UF is in the bottom 1/4 now, and that hurts. I would take fighting on frat row Ron Zook right now .
So many projecting negativity. We need Napier to succeed even if it’s 8-4 as a ceiling for the next guy in five years. Saban followed how many failed coaching at the premier school in all of college football? People are so unrealistic.
This idea that Florida had pockets of success and is an average program is so narrow minded and over simplified. Florida was a dominant program in basketball and football for a nearly 20 year period recently. Bama was 2nd and 3rd tier at times for 15 years during that time until they threw everything above board and under the table at winning with Saban. Nebraska is a has been. Texas had little success before and after their title year with Vince Young. Michigan, rarely top 10 with a great year here and there. Ucla basketball is a shell of what it once was. Florida was the 3rd winningest programs of the 90s. They won 2 nattys the following decade. Stop with this. These things are fluid. What Florida has shown is that it can be a dominant force when ran competently as it has all the resources necessary. Such a tired argument to act like Florida is Louisville or Georgia tech...

There's a lot of merit/truth in what you say. But you will agree I think that when UF was great from time to time, it was largely due to having a great coach. All SEC championships in football was primarily due to SOS and UM. I will say for those who dump on DM, he had UF in consecutive top bowls. All I'm saying is coaching matters. Look at uga before smart. I know uga knew by year 3 he was really good. Where was UT heading before the coach they have now? Let's suppose we have kept Zook, Muschamp, Mac, for 4 or 5 years, is there any real confidence that length of stay would matter? I agree with you that a merry go round of coaches isn't good, but neither is sticking with a coach who evidently can't win unless he has far superior athletes. I believe great coaches can win with great coaching even with inferior talent. I have no angst against BN, super character guy, but what I've seen of his coaching, preparation, staffing, lack of team improvement is a genuine cause for concern wouldn't you agree? Should (I hope not) we have another losing season and why should any gator have confidence going into year 4? I know there are some schools who have kept their coaches after multiple losing seasons, I'm not sure that's the norm and should UF decide to retain BN, then I'll continue to pull for Uf in all kinds of weather. I will be rooting for us to win every game as I have throughout being a Gator fan for over 60 years. You are a great poster and I do appreciate your insights even when I don't always agree.
It wasn't the problem but it was a problem. The line protected about as well as card board box protecting you from an RPG. The line was also the weakest offensive line in the FBS and rated the worst in the FBS. Think about that - UMass had a better offensive line.
For everyone who argues that we need to keep a head coach to establish continuity. Lets look at the staff in 2022. Rob Sale Offensive coordinator / offensive line Patrick Toney Co-Defensive coordinator / Safeties Sean Spencer Co-defensive coordinator / Defensive line Jabbar Juluke Associate head coach (Offense) / Running backs Corey Raymond Assistant head coach (Defense) / Cornerbacks Keary Colbert Wide Receivers Darnell Stapleton Offensive line William Peagler Tight ends Mike Peterson Outside Linebackers Jay Bateman Inside Linebackers Mark Hocke Associate head coach / Director of strength and conditioning 3 out of 11 remain after 2 years. I don't know how everyone personally defines continuity, but that doesn't qualify for me.
