Idiot Trumpers: 2 prosecutors on the same case dating = throw out the case. Also Idiot Trumpers: The wife of a SCOTUS Justice helping to plan an insurrection shouldn't disqualify her husband from sitting on insurrection-related cases.
LOL, they're not going to remove a DA for impropriety and still try to convict a former POTUS on the charges she concocted. The judge has already questioned the prosecutor over their suspicious timing requests and potential election interference.
I'm happy to defer to someone here with legal experience, but "charged she concocted" seems like a stretch.
I really doubt the attorney she was dating was driving her decisions as an elected official, and I’m not sure if anyone has even alleged specific misconduct with the grand jury, for example. I thought the argument was that she was politically motivated (which would also be wrong), and now it’s about funneling money to herself through her boyfriend/lover? Having said that, while I’m not sure what mere non-disclosure of the relationship would mean, if they were to get caught lying to the Court, I assume the Judge would have to do something. No idea what that might look like. I have the inclination to support Willis, particularly given some of the very racist and sexist attacks I’ve seen against her online. I do wonder how her testimony played to anyone on the fence. Maybe everybody wants fighters now. I felt she was a bit over the top, but then again, I didn’t have the befit of reading their written allegations.
Atlanta has a lot of black people, so the hate filled suburb is probably a suburb that hates black people. Or perhaps hate filled gangster rappers shooting each other. I’m sure there is a perfectly reasonable explanation.
I find her claims about paying him back in cash a bit suspect, but the amounts seemed pretty small (a couple thousand for a Belize trip, some lunches, etc). Maybe $10,000 over a couple of years? If the angle was some type of financial malfeasance, didn’t seem very substantive relative to these people’s salaries. The defense didn’t even seem to have hard evidence, so the whole thing devolved into innuendo about when they first had sex vs when they were still just friends? Eh… I think the problem is one of relevance. Some speculated the judge wasn’t likely to even force her testimony, so in that regard it was probably dumb to testify at all. She seemed pretty adamant about certain details in the defense filing being totally false, so I was actually wondering if the defense lawyers could end up getting sanctioned.
We all have biases. My knee-jerk reaction to reading racist and sexist attacks on her is to want to defend her. I’m also an admitted Democrat. I am trying to be mindful of the bias on my part and wonder if anyone’s mind will be changed. In terms of the question about it just being random comments, it’s more than that. There are people with followers pushing this stuff. Trump has himself made race or ethnicity an issue with judges and prosecutors in the past. The hatred seems to peak for Black women. And despite all that, I have criticisms of how she handled some of the questions.
She was an arrogant ass who damaged her own case. Sometimes stunning and brave means showing some humility in the face of adversity.
