Interestingly, the article (linked in the thread on this site) says Stapleton signed a contract extension in January. That would mean he also left just a few weeks after signing his contract.

Not quite true. His resume had 1 year at ASU but granted, that was likely because of promotion.

2020-23: New York Giants (Director of Strength and Performance)
2018-19: University of Tennessee (Director of Football Sports Performance)
2014-17: Houston Texans (Strength and Conditioning)
2012-13: Penn State University (Director of Strength and Conditioning)
2009-11: University of South Carolina (Director of Strength and Conditioning)
2005-09: Harvard University (Director of Strength and Conditioning)
2000-05: University of Maryland (Asst. Director of Strength and Conditioning)
1999: Arizona State University (Graduate Assistant Strength/Conditioning)
1997-99: Catholic University (Director of Strength and Conditioning)

The point is, assistant coaches typically sign 2 year contracts, so explain to me the risk to Fitzgerald is really taking? For someone who moves around a lot anyway, there's none other than if you view getting a buyout after one year is somehow a risk.

I think its much simpler in that he viewed Boston > Central FL. Its a big culture difference coming from the big apple down to hogtown. I bet if O'Brien would have called earlier, then he would have never taken the UF position.

Probably read this board about how ridiculous it was to have two offensive line coaches and got a bad feeling.

I just wonder why it took two years +5 weeks before the feeling came over him?

I say just go out and hire a staff of retired US Navy SEALS and see what happens. Have the team go through a HELL Week and see who is committed and who isn't before they get turned over to Napier.

That's easy to answer: he didn't have two years + 5 weeks of internet complaining to review yet.
