WHO CARES???? I'm just worried about getting in the top 12 of Smooty Gators picks in 24, thats the REAL action!
I think you also have to factor the recruiting class. A 5 - 7 season may be forgiven with a terriffic class. I don't think many fans expect a huge season in 24, but 25, all bets are off. Of course I have no insider information and am speculating.
An average SEC team is a good team and would win 6, maybe 7 games But it’s not about the win count. That’s why bitching about the schedule doesn’t matter. The question is whether we are a top 25 team? Sure we’d win more with an ACC schedule but that’s not the important part. The important part is if Billy got us to top 25 level
Whats the point of even playing the non-playoff bowl games (from the schools perspective) - For TV, Hotel and Restaurant vendors? The best players won't even show. Extra practice, yeah but there is also the potential for injury. Lets admit it, the bowls (outside the playoffs) are a sinking ship and interest is wanning. Considering UF decided to not even participate against Oklahoma or Oregon State, I'm not sure I would go to one unless it's a playoff spot.
This year would be survivable were it not for 2 consecutive losing seasons under this coach. There is no excuse for losing to Vandy or Kentucky or Arkansas nor the numerous boneheaded issues on the field. Take our mens basketball team, in TG second year he has turned the program around. He saw where we were deficient and got the right pieces. Truth is, every year the SEC will be strong, a team like UF should not be in the lower tier of the sec period.
This is what I'm thinking, but we cannot have injuries on the O-line like we did last year... or in any position group room. If we can somehow win the games we're supposed to win... and win our home games? That would be a successful year. I say 8 wins is doable. And... if we get lucky... we can win more.
Many teams have no aspirations of ever being in the 12 team playoff anyway and those teams probably enjoy their bowl game. But for teams like Florida, a non-playoff bowl game is meaningless and maybe we should just opt out.
Definitely possible but we have so many question marks at offensive line , linebacker secondary, it’s anywhere from 4 to 8 wins. We really have no idea what we’re about to put on the field.
I don't think the biggest pessimist believes we will lose to Samford. If we did, there would be a press conference before the last fan leaves. But Miss State? The last three years, MSU is 21-17. We are 17-21. and the game is at Cowbell Hell...
I'd go with 2003, when we played: LSU:...........13-1 (National Champs) Miami:........11-2 Georgia:......11-3 Tennessee:..10-3 Ole Miss:.....10-3 Iowa:..........10-3 FSU:.............9-4 (on the field) Arkansas:......9-4 Not sure next year's top eight will have that record. Seriously doubt the Noles will finish 13-0.
Totally agree. Thats why I refrain from posting analysis about this position group and that position group. I am hopeful Billy turns things around so Gator Nation may enjoy football a bit more than in the recent past. But until they actually compete, it's all speculation until then. I am interested in what is being said about the new transfers. Hoping the reports out of UF is the newbies have "PT" potential. Everything I read suggests the new transfers may be a bit better than the last couple of years, but that may just be O&B glasses suggesting that. Obviously we need those guys to contribute. is it August yet? LOL The Miami game looms larger every day in my eyes. The Napier Super Bowl!
Everyone was "take the action, take the action, 6 wins is a sure thing in 23". Well that 5 game stretch at the end of the season was a thing of misery. Tough to beat Vegas, I sure hope they are wrong, but thats not an encouraging signal for Gator Nation.
What do you base this on? Since 2010, our record against P5 programs is 76-72 (.514). Our record against OOC P5 programs is 12-15 (.444). Our record against SEC teams is 64-57 (.529). Which teams should just be happy? I mean, aside from Vandy, Kansas, Indiana, and teams like that?
Billy cannot start the season with a loss to Miami or UCF. Lose a couple early and a shaky situation degrades. Then we have a back end schedule where we are sure to be big dogs in 4 games (Texas, LSU, UGA and Ole miss). Combine that with the past two years where we have gotten worse later in the year and a thin roster. We gotta come out this year firing on all cyclinders, win ALL the games we should win and half the toss ups. UCF and this UM are “should wins” in year 3, IMO.
Agree, what has happened in our program other than getting DJ to think we are any better or worse off? Recruiting has held the same as has the portal movement.
