Georgia will stay right there if they keep recruiting where they have been. They just did it again and should be the favorites.

The game has changed right before our very eyes. There are potential NFL stars at Georgia who will become complacent with their 150K a year NIL deal and there will be transfer portal players trying to get paid the year after next. Do you think Clayton and Richard are going to get more NIL than they did this year next year?

The portal benefits rebuilding programs much more than programs that are on top.

It benefits teams with the most cash.

Almost. It benefits teams with the most cash who are willing to spend it on NIL.

If that’s true, then guess my next question.

And so far the same teams are recruiting at the top as were before

So far, yes. It’s almost as if winning programs are faster to adapt to new circumstances than losing ones.

It is hard to convince McDonalds all Americans to commit to your program when you’re bringing in Juniors who are Players of the Year from other conferences who transfer from those conferences to your school.

so you get super HS talent but you sacrifice experience and proven production on the next level. Calipari, Saban, Sweeney, and even now Smart have dominated the HS ranks of superstars but they are missing the boat largely on transfers who bring them ready to play and PROVEN talent.

As they are forced to diversify their future classes with a healthy mix of HS and transfer talent, they open the door for other programs to swoop up the 5 stars and high 4 star players that they used to horde.

You didn’t clearly state what my question was before trying to answer it. One more time: what’s my question?

There are no more year 3's or year 4's. Coach Sisyphus has to push the boulder up the hill every year now. NIL and the transfer portal have done to college football what ending the reserve clause did to baseball. What's good for the players is bad for the fans.

Looks to me Kirby and Saban just took the top hs kids again and raided the portal for a select few holes like they’ve been doing all along. Thank god Saban is tired of it and quit.

Yep and I’m not interested in a league where Magic isn’t a Laker and Bird isn’t a Celtic. Without the rivalries, it’s boring.
