To me this is bad optics for all involved. Who is seeing all of this happen? Really these coaches are supposed to be adults and be role models to these young men. Yet, these young men see one thing, jerks for coaches. Coaches who leave on a moment's notice without even a good bye. So what do we expect from the players when the coaches give them the finger? So he left because his buddy is HC at some rinky-dink program. That tells the players well they can leave on a moment's notice too because their best friend transferred to this school or that school. Why not? I would too. There's no loyalty to the employer that pays your bills these days. I've seen it hundreds of times over the past 15 years.

The fact is, getting another S&C coach now maybe too late. Teams are already done with shuffling around of their staffs. Everyone is getting ready for Spring camp. For us, we can't train like a soccer or track team. Whoever thought that was a great idea should be bagging groceries for life. We weren't even great at that when you consider everyone was faster, had more endurance and had more stamina. Usually training like a track or soccer team is going to up your endurance and stamina and of course team speed, but ha, we were slower than every team we faced. I said last year that the #1 job was a better S&C program or else. I don't care if you have the best offensive line college football has ever seen if you don't work on S&C in the off season. They will turn into a line of Jabba the Huts by August.

Gonna need a bag big enough to force someone to jump ship. Now if the dipshit that left us in a lurch had his salary doubled, that’s understandable.

But if it is "that easy" then when why doesn't he get it?

Or is it that Napier does not get it? He was the one who hired him in the first place and did not get rid of him after the first year.

Definitely a mistake. You don’t get many. I’m sure the guy has failed theory.

But wait wasn’t everyone all a twitter about what an incredible job Napier did hiring this guy?
    Was the enthusiasm misplaced?

Oh I know, I was merely questioning the other poster who suggested people shouldn’t be so upset as “they hardly knew anything about before he was hired”.

I see quite a lot of that about various coaches and probably am negative about it until there is some history.
Been fooled before so I don’t get all jazzed up.
The list of disappointing results from “sure things” is long.

Problem is we can’t get too high or too low. Situation is fluid. I don’t recall the positivity being net positive at this point. It was +8 and -20 at this point.

I have no idea how good he is but Napier better find a good one fast and some Mr big drawers better sign a check fat enough to get his full attention or we can start the carousel spinning again. This needs to work out.

Unpopular opinion, but I thought conditioning under savage was excellent, power, not so much. SC has been neglected for a long time, even while it was getting fixed

Aw your feelings are hurt. It’s pretty obvious why he jumped. 3+ years of job security with his buddy versus a 50/50 shot at more than 1 year. This isn’t rocket science

Just saw that Scott Cochran is no longer on Georgias staff... Wonder if he was dismissed for something or if Billy made a move?

Scott Cochran made the jump to UGA after 13yrs as the S&C coach at Alabama because Kirby promised him a shot at being a on field assistant, and he did. It was short lived though after Kirby announced in August of 2021 that he was stepping away from the program to “prioritize his mental health and well-being.” It turned out he entered rehab for an addiction (Adderall if I remember right). He was allowed to return a year or so later in an unspecified off the field roll. He didn’t want to be a S&C coach anymore so what would you be getting now if you hire him as one?

For financial reason, he may be reconsidering . If his head is in the right place, it may be a good move.

What we were/are paying Hocke ($750k+) would be a considerable bump from his UGA salary of ~$550k.

He also worked with Hocke and Napier at Bama so there is some relationship there.
It's a great hire for someone if he has his issues in check.
If Sark can be a CFB/addiction comeback success story I hope Cochran can do the same wherever it may be.

The longer this drags on without a S&C coaching heading into spring ball, the worse things get imo. With a possible make or brake year and with the toughest schedule, any lapse is not good at all.

That could very possibly be the only reason. No dispute. It’s the nature of your replies that continue to be off-putting. You’re not a Napier fan. We all get it. Do you have to be so prickly? (Rhetorical)

There must be a super excellent assistant S&C coach somewhere.
