Was just going to say this. As of now, just to go 6-6 we would have to beat (at least) 3 ranked teams. A lot of teams don't even have 3 ranked teams on their schedule. The rankings will surely change, and I can't imagine our schedule getting tougher (on paper anyways), but our schedule is something I don't think I've ever seen before. The difference between 6-6 and 8-4 this year is super-magnified not only because of the schedule, but because it's CBN's 3rd year, and it's time to shine! The 2024 season is going to be a wild ride... hopefully it works out well for the Gators.
With the way coaches have moved and with roster turnover due to the portal, take those rankings with a grain of salt. But coach will need to steal some games this year.
I can see anywhere from 4 to 8 wins. On paper this schedule is as tough as they get. But we do catch some new QB’s and I believe some new coaches. Hoping for a big jump from the guys from the young guys that played, and a strong contribution from transfer and a couple of true freshmen.
He stole some last year. Stole defeat from the jaws of victory. He will need to do MUCH better this year.
That’s probably a fair assessment of our roster and anything better than that as in six and six, maybe we should be happy with for now. I know there’s people who expect 8 to 10 wins in year three but that shit is not going to happen
we need a great job of coaching, a great effort, by our kids, and we need the ball to bounce the right way to get to seven or eight wins,
Those rankings are definitely early and some completely changed rosters but all those teams could be better than what they are rank also.
Only problem is bowl wins are dicey as hell. We got blown out our last three bowls. Opt outs, portal, preparing for the Combines...
In this case, with 3 straight bowl losses, 3 straight losing seasons, and a potential 6-6 season it would mean much, much more than usual
I’m more interested in the six wins in the regular season than I am in a mismatch bowl, full of people opting out
Not criticizing you because sadly you aren’t wrong. But in what world is year 3 for a UF coach going 6-6 successful? What a mess.
5.5 is a very realistic number. For those who don't know me, I think 6 wins gets CBN another year, so long as he plays DJ and knocks out a top ten recruiting class. Less than 6 and he is finished. So 5.5 is right on point. Round up and he stays round down and he goes.
