this is the person second in line to be potus?

Speaker Johnson wrote foreword for book filled with conspiracy theories and homophobic insults | CNN Politics

Speaker of the House Mike Johnson wrote the foreword and publicly promoted a 2022 book that spread baseless and discredited conspiracy theories and used derogatory homophobic insults.

Written by Scott McKay, a local Louisiana politics blogger, the book, “The Revivalist Manifesto,” gives credence to unfounded conspiracy theories often embraced by the far-right – including the “Pizzagate” hoax, which falsely claimed top Democratic officials were involved in a pedophile ring, among other conspiracies.

The book also propagates baseless and inaccurate claims, implying that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts was subjected to blackmail and connected to the disgraced underage sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

Other sections of the book defend podcaster Joe Rogan from racism charges after it was revealed he used the N-word, which Rogan later apologized for. The book also disparages poor voters as “unsophisticated and susceptible to government dependency” and easy to manipulate with “Black Lives Matter ‘defund the police’ pandering.”

But that happened all the way back in the old days of 2022. He's a changed man. Let bygones be bygones, no need to dig up the distant past.

The only vetting they engage in is the subject's willingness to kiss Trump's ass.

So, when are the dems going to step up and expel Menendez?
Evidence appears just as damming as the stuff on Santos

Close but not to the same level. Santos was beyond any reasonable doubt that he committed fraud. Menendez is guilty but a severely disconnected from reality juror could have doubt. Just like Trump. All three should be in prison

Your right in that all three are very different and very different alleged crimes. No convictions on any of the three. Damming evidence according to most on all three. One gets expelled from Congress, one is compared to Hitler and going to destroy democracy and one just keeps right on rolling. Biggest difference in all three is the letter by their name!!!

There have been many of Mendez's colleagues calling for him to resign including the Jr Senator from NJ - Cory Booker.

As of Sept 26 - the date of this article, more than half of Democrat Senators had called for him to resign and more since then. I wonder why he hasn't.

Over half of US Democratic senators call for Menendez's resignation

I see Fetterman has been trolling him. Not sure if the Senate might be less inclined than the House to open the door to expulsions while criminal indictments are pending. As far as I can tell, the last expulsion in the U.S. Senate was Civil War era. Maybe Menendez thinks staying in power give him advantages such as the ability to call in favors or make the argument that he's under political attack? Maybe he'd accept a deal from prosecutors and agree to step down as part of that?

Curiously, not sure a single GOP Senator has called on Menendez to resign. 26 dems have. But unless more on both sides come out, the votes just aren’t likely there.

I think he should resign, and similar to Santos if he refuses he should be forced out. But with only 26 votes, not sure Schumer calls a vote. What is it, 66 needed?

Just my opinion I think that the Pubs have been reluctant to call for the resignation and/or expulsion of Menendez for one reason. It's because their likely presidential nominee has similar and much more serious baggage than Bob Menendez. Menendez has been indicted on three counts in the Southern District of New York. The former president and probable Republican presidential nominee has been indicted on 91 counts in two federal district courts and as well as in two different state courts.

Bingo and right on the nose. Democrat Tom Souzzi just won the special election for Santos' district, so the Dems pick up a House seat.

Dems keep overperforming polling. Souzzi was polling at +1 and won at +8. The GOP agenda and antics are repulsive to voters.

Doesn't bode well for the Republicans. The Pubs were able to flip the House in 2022 because they were able to flip a number of suburban NY districts including the 3rd and other districts with similar demographics. If yesterday's election is any indicator the Dems may be able to flip other districts back come November. Souzzi was also apparently able to flip the script on the Southern border migration issue and the Democratic party maybe able to use a similar strategy elsewhere possibly even nationally. The traditional narrative was that the Dems did nothing about border security, the new narrative is that Republicans under the direction of Donald Trump are blocking enactment of the most significant legislation increasing border security in decades.

Some R’s now going on record that they should have stuck with Santos! Yowzers.

Either these idiots are 110% into win at all costs, or they are down with corruption (not necessarily an either/or).
