I think you are overlooking "how" things are budgeted. I doubt all those plane expenses are included in the recruiting budget. They are probably stand alone expenses
Still cheaper to buy in pcola than rent.prices have went way up the last few years though along with the interest rates. Hopefully the gubment can get that shit under control. Inflation and prices are killing us.
I agree which is why they shouldn't include others air travel without some kind of asterisk or disclaimer BC knowing that than we know we still have the expenses but just moved to another line of the P&L sheet. And that really kinda skews that report/article a bit if it includes air travel expenses for some schools but moves our air travel expenses to a different line under other expenses.
If Florida wanted to win this competition, they could move numbers into different columns and show on paper to be the top spenders. This is important to Kirby, he wants to be number one on this list, so he is. UF would probably prefer to appear more frugal (or simply doesn’t care), so they do. This is another thing that people will use to push a narrative even though they have absolutely no idea what’s really happening. Just like comparing NIL numbers between schools.
I'm with you on a lot but I don't get this. They prioritize football the way Alabama has under Saban. No boundaries. No limits. They most likely paid upperclassmen to stay rather than go pro prior to NIL. They have been busted for spending money on unofficial visits that weren't even in these books. I don't say that with any envy but they are what they are.
I’m just saying these numbers are all reported differently so we don’t really know what we’re looking at. If they’re putting all their charter jet rentals into a recruiting category, and we’re putting our owned jet maintenance, fuel, and personnel costs into a miscellaneous athletic dept expenditure category, then that alone will drastically skew these “recruiting” numbers. A lot of stuff can be moved around to tell whatever story you want to tell. We know the story Kirby wants to tell, and we know we’re comparing apples to oranges when looking at reports like this.
We, along with the rest of the SEC just received $54.3 million from the conference. You can't tell me that they can't divert 10% of that money in addition to what we are already budgeted. That would get us on a par with those flea ridden mutts.
Based on what Ohio State spentin 2023, $13.5 million, my guess is that Georgia is not including everything. With that said, I read on Twitter (these were journalists who follow Gator football, i.e. 247, On3, etc.) that some schools were spending insane money for TP and recruits. Kind of funny, the NCAA thought it was going to lower the boom on everybody, and the SEC and Big Ten said not so fast!
Egotistical clowns like Kirby probably include "incentives" in duffel bags to that number. We will never "win" that top recruiting expense war.
How bout number one class. I think he skewed that too? They are beating us in every aspect of football did they just lose a coach to bc.
That mythical number one is somewhat mitigated since we're now talking about 4 recruiting services and the combined average. I would love to be number one in that, just like most of us. But right now, for the 2024 recruiting year, I'm okay with a smaller class and getting more experienced college players from the portal. This year is going to be difficult and we need as much SEC ready college football talent on our team and a huge class would not get us the experienced depth we will need to transverse this hectic schedule.
