Once again, I'll state, why are we so worried about a Chinese company stealing our personal data when we've been willingly giving it all up to Facebook/Google/etc. for over a decade? If China wants data on Americans, they can probably already just buy the troves already collected.
To the OP's point, I agree it seems a bit hypocritical for a politician to use a platform for messaging that they'd previously denigrated as unsafe. I wouldn't put this high on the "political hypocrisy" scale, but seems an odd decision unless there's been a public reversal on the administration's stance re: TikTok.

Difference is Tik Tok is a Chinese owned company and as such can easily be forced to turn of any data to the CCP. US could try to do that to Meta but unlikely it would happen. Remember when the US tried to force Apple to give them the keys to their IoS and lost?
