So because one of the several pseudonyms that she used was male, she's transgender. Got it. Lakewood Church shooter was mentally troubled, consistently identified as female, police say
It's the victimization schtick. They have two avenues, the Trans angle and the anti-Semitic angle. All the evidence appears to be that some woman who occasionally uses a man's name to commit fraud and was in a bitter divorce with a Jewish husband and may have lashed out in certain anti-Semitic ways, as opposed to being part of a global jihad. They desperately need this to be emblematic of something larger, deadly trans people who require suppression and divestiture of rights from Dominionists that call themselves Christians, and/or dehumanization of all Palestinian sympathy as jihadist. They know they don't have the facts generally. And it certainly appears that they don't have the facts in this instance. So they simply claim that they are being suppressed, that the "true facts" are concealed and unknowable, but would support their worldview. So tiring, but never ending.
I saw lots of people entirely focused on the claim that the shooter was transgender. If that angle falls through, I guess it's not going to fit their narrative anymore.
There is also the issue that the gun had "Palestine" on it and that she has made some unspecified anti-Semitic rants Link in post 24 Two weapons were recovered from the scene, including a .22 caliber rifle, which was not used in the shooting, and an AR-15 with a "Palestine" sticker, which Moreno fired at the officers. "There was a sticker on the buttstock of the rifle that stated 'Palestine.' A sticker simply stated 'Palestine' on the buttstock," Hassig said. The homicide investigator, who said HPD has been working with both state and federal officials to come up with a motive for Moreno's attack on the Lakewood Church, suggested that it may have been grounded in the shooter's mental illness, coupled with an ongoing dispute Moreno had with her ex-husband who is Jewish. "We do have some facts that she was put under an emergency detention order by Houston police officers, we believe in 2016. We do believe that she does have a mental health history that is documented through us and through interviews with family members," Hassig said. "And we do want to say that through our investigation, I mentioned antisemitic writing. We do believe that there was a familial dispute that has taken place between her ex-husband and her ex-husband's family. And some of those individuals are Jewish, so we believe that that might possibly be where all of this stems from," Hassig said. So I am going from what the police are saying. But I'm sure if this is not tied into anything larger, it will be because it doesn't "fit". I should add that incidents are no less deadly or dangerous if they arise from family incidents. But it does suggest that it is not something larger to group in with larger political issues.
Re: it not staying in the news for long. That tends to happen with all shootings, even if there are mass casualties. Forgotten about in a week or so, until the next one happens.
Fear of trans mass shooters attacking churches will cause the far religious right to race towards gun control. I called it first.
and even then, it's forgotten about in short order. The general public/news cycle has the attention span of a gnat.
I haven't been able to read about this incident yet, but am wondering about the shooter bringing a child along. I don't recall a shooter taking their child into such a circumstance. It appears to be the ultimate selfish and cowardly act.
Using your kid as a human shield is a new low for most but SOP for the pro Hamas crowd. No idea if she is trans or not. Using a male name when arrested doesn’t make her trans any more than calling herself male makes her a man, but it does indicate she’s experienced enough to understand that if she puts down a male name she can use the trans label later for preferential treatment in regards to incarceration…. Or she could just be trans.
