Wow, Billy can’t catch a break, or create one. BOB has a minimum of probably 4yrs guaranteed at BC, Billy & staff, not so much guaranteed at this point. Appears to be a likely strategic career move by Fitzgerald, imho.

 

I'm all for keeping it professional but lol come on. Dude didn't even finish HR onboarding. Nice guys finish last, sometimes it's ok to not say anything at all.

 

I’m asking myself BC over UF? ACC over SEC? However, it appears more about BOB and Fritz have had a long and established relationship.

 

No doubt, but the guaranteed longevity difference has to be a factor also, imho. UF>BC.

Wow. Just… wow. From everything I’ve read and heard from the players this guy has come in and changed the tone immediately… this does NOT bode well for offseason development at all. This position is arguably the most important on staff and we see what happens when it’s bad (Hocke)… it appeared Cbn had hit a homerun with this hire … now, in the middle of the offseason program you switch it up to … who? Who knows but this isn’t good.
In the abstract- a guy comes in for a month and leaves for BC? lol… that could read as someone who gaged the temperature and saw the writing on the wall? But it’s more likely he wanted to work with his buddy BoB

Fitz is a creep. You don't take the job at UF--or any job, for that matter-- and then just walk out shortly thereafter leaving your employer in the lurch. Total ass move.

And I agree re: Billy's comments. I wouldn't have said anything at all publicly. But what I would have said to Fitz, I can't post here. But I would have made damn sure he got his sorry butt out of his office and off campus ASAP.

I think mentioning five weeks was a good enough kick in the nuts while taking the high road. Short of kicking him in the nuts for real.

 

If you are talking about me Mertz performed nearly exactly as predicted. He was supposed to be about 50th in the country and he finished like 35th. Mertz is the least of our worries. Wearing the same jersey and having our best D player transfer because of a bad strength program are bigger issues.

And now we have a team that has no strength coach with the probable strength coach being the one that failed and caused our best D player to transfer.
