By coincidence, I found out today that my niece in Texas and the home health woman who does some work with my wife here in Jacksonville both have covid.

Lol, just one more jab and she might be protected, just kidding that shit doesn't work. Only liberals in their late 50's believe in the jab. Glad she didn't have any side effects from covid and those jabs

I thought it was a great post, and yet you have those getting those useless jabs and they're useless

my son and I went to mid 2023 before we had it. As far as we know my wife has never gotten it. All of us vaxxed and boosted multiple times.

To your question, the omicron and following variants are more likely to spread than prior variants. Plus very few are taking any precautions these days and many don’t even get tested so it is highly plausible that it is more common now than it was a few years ago. The difference is now between vaccines and natural immunity the impacts are not as bad for many.

I’m pulling for you regarding your larger challenge. But it is the test that sustains the perception of a never-ending pandemic. Even the Mother of All Pandemics, the so-called Spanish Flu pretty much blew through in 18 months.

three time vaccinated, travelled frequently during covid earlier stages, never got infected. New strain is much more infectious and got me and my 21 year old son a few months back, wife in same house, never got sick or was asymptomatic

Really do appreciate your post and remarks. And agree we likely do not make decisions the same way based on risk. However…I do think you miss the reality that there were epidemiologists and public health officials that saw the data out of Italy/Diamond Princess/New York/etc that realized this was being blown out of proportion. That is my point. And I to this day get called out here not by experts. But by those that fell for the propaganda and refuse to see it. I get it. The few in control scared the living mess out of a majority. They censored those that were right. The crazy thing in our country. Is we still advise people to give a shot to a 6 month old for a disease that is no threat to them. Shoot. At this point there is not reason for anyone to take the shot. Unless we want to go the flu route where we guess and say it is worth it. Instead we peddle a shot designed for an archaic variant.

They knew from the very beginning this thing was only a major threat to a very small portion of the population.

My luck ran out Friday, felt a bit achy, no fever, no chills, just felt a bit off. Tested Saturday am and it was positive within seconds. Saturday Tmax was 100.8.

    Very mild muscle aches.

Today I’m 90% to normal, even considered going surfing but figured the wife would rip me if I did that..

It really hasn’t prevent me from doing a thing (except go to work for staff and patients safety).

Dodged the bullet for almost 4 years. Seen scores of patients, ran through work multiple times, wife and or kids had it on 3 separate occasions.

Honestly, if you had sheltered in place from the beginning, the trip home would not have been a worry. And how many people did you spread the virus to while you were on your unnecessary trip visiting with family in Missouri?

LOL I wonder how many people I infected on the plane trips there and back. I had been coughing up mucus for a day or two before leaving home. The day before checking into the hospital we spent the evening at Dolly Parton's dinner theater in Branson Mo. Wonder how many I infected there.

Hard to know. I had a pesky cold a few weeks ago but tested negative for Covid multiple times. Flu was kicking people’s ass in early January too. World’s a petri dish.

It's a good question actually. The virus has become weaker over time. I think originally it had to do with the unknown and a "better safe than sorry" approach. Still, millions died. Fortunately, most of us correctly saw the anti-vaxers as partisan nut jobs and ignored them, and millions were saved.
