I always mess with my buddy in Denver caus ya'll get all the best beer in distro. But we still get TG in Jax and we just started getting Fat Heads again. And Head Hunter is top 5 IPA for me. So we have a few on you.
give me your address & I can hook you up with focal banger, heady topper & sip of sunshine. seems this is up your ally.
I hardly ever buy their stuff, but I've been to the brewery a couple times and recall enjoying the samplings. It's one of those: you don't remember what people say or do, but you remember how they make you feel. I feel fondly about Definitive. Thing is their brewery is a bit further out of town and one can't swing a dead cat in penninsular Portland without hitting a great brewery - so I don't find myself out that way anymore. Plus I just drink less beer lately. Mostly bourbon and gummies. Over 50, beer just hits different in the morning. - replying on third pour
I can vouch for @docspor he and I sent beers back and forth. I could have done without the nudes, but at least the beer was fresh
Yeah, I get it. I am trying to glob on to a great idea....but pecan pie flavored gummy with bourbon....yum. pineapple or ginger w/ rum!
Surly Furious, Axeman, Abrasive, and Overrated (if they still make it) are all high quality IPAs. And Darkness is a world class stout
Yep! It is annoying. When I have a thread they are engaged in and it is obvious a comment was made to someone else. I only see the comment by the person and not the person who has me blocked. And in the thread. There will be for example. Post #23 and then post #25 and I can’t see post #24. That said I think there are different rules based on premium members and non premium members.
Back around Thanksgiving I picked up a variety pack of Surly, just to make sure I had some beer around. These are some of the contents, but I don't think they are among the ones you mention (glass of Japanese whisky in the foreground for effect).
those are not familiar. I certainly recall todd the axeman & thinking it was top notch. The only other 1 I recall was (i think) a citra pale that was super tasty given that it clocked in at a pretty low ABV.
When I was at UF one of my roommates and I drove out to Colorado to go backpacking. Out there we took the tourist tour of Coors. After the tour we went to the information desk and said we were engineering students and was there some more in-depth tour that we could take. The lady said there was a VIP tour the next day and she put us on it. We were down on the production floor looking close up at all the equipment and viewing the entire process. At the end of the line there was a long filter that the beer went through before bottling. There was a line from before the press which was 1/16 inch Stainless steel coiled up. It was probably 50 feet or more if the coil had been stretched out. That length of small diameter tubing was needed to drop the pressure so that they could sample the beer before the filter press. We all got samples of that unfiltered beer. It was actually quite good, and fresh.
My son-in-law took a Master Brewer course from the American Brewers Guild. It ended with him spending two weeks in a Vermont brewery. Afterwards he was awarded his certificate. He agrees that Vermont might make the best beers, especially IPAs. The weird thing is that hops come from the Pacific Northwest, not New England.
The theory is its the chemical makeup of the water supply in New England that is perfect for IPAs. I also always felt like rising tide lifts all ships, and once one started making badass IPAs they all figured out how to do it. And a lot of the hops are New Zealand now as well.
