There is an article on X (Twitter) saying a defensive player is moving to tight end, but it's behind a paywall. Some are saying it's Gavin Hill.

If so, tough move. He appears to be buried on the depth chart on either side of the board.

From what I read, he played on the offensive side of the ball in high school, and he is a big boy. If he can play, he won’t be buried for long.

    He’s 255, don’t think he’s in the middle anyway.

If so, this might be only for spring practice. Looking at the new prospects that signed we have three new DLs already here but our new TE won't be joining until the summer. So Gavin gets a tryout at TE and if he excels he sticks and if not he's back at DL. If the new guys excel then Gavin has some tough decisions to make.

10 catches his sophomore year. Than focused on defense for the rest of HS.

Hopefully he excels and we don't have to burn another Buchholz connection.

It is Hill. Coaches always knew he was a two way out of HS.

Agreed considering they have an incredibly talented Sophomore QB that I hope the Gators are keeping an eye on.

The dreaded Will Muschamp move - DE to TE. We are doomed. Lol

There are two trains of thought. The first is that you are a generalist playing in a sport that relishes specialists. The second is that you are a "tweener". Either one, or a combination of both, makes you an expendable part and not essential.

The next step, unless it is a failure of the staff to identify and develop talent, is to either embrace your place in the football legacy (nothing wrong with that) or you move on to a better place (see Emory Jones). Either way, these are usually not great moves for the program. A few athletic HS QBs have become damn nice WRs or TEs, but after that...

Weston from WR to DB to to Edge Rusher. Wow, there's a progression for you. Wasn't Mullen super high on Weston as a true freshman?

Wasn’t sure if I was more surprised by the position switch or that it’s already been 5 years and he’s still here and it’s

Yeah, like, why hasn't he transferred? Maybe just a kid that wants to get a degree from a great school and is lucky enough to get a scholarship to pay for it without having to risk bodily harm on the football field.

My take is that he is persistent and not a quitter! Nowadays, there are quite a few players not demonstrating team loyalty; but he is. Furthermore, to make position changes, numerous times, reveals someone with character! I commend this young man for his relentless tenacity!!!
