If and when we know Napier isn’t the guy what’s the alternative? You’d rather perpetual losing seasons, be a laughingstock with no hope just because we wouldn’t be “starting over”. Starting over seems like a much better situation We aren’t at that point yet but damn it’s weird you guys would keep a coach no matter how they performed.
I wonder why the sarcasm directed at the post you quoted. Do you feel the Gators should have an OC other than CBN?
Napier isn't the source of UF's football problems. Nor is the length (or lack thereof) of his tenure. The same is true of Mullen, Mac, TOG, and even The Dazzler. You wrote an accurate description of the downward spiral UF football is in and referred to the actual problem without specifically identifying it. So, who is(are) the words "let's" and "we" referring to? If you'e referring to UF fans in general, or posters on this board in particular, then I think you've missed the mark. Try this: Wherever you see the words "let's" or "we" substitute the phrase "the ninnies involved with, and responsible for, hiring coaches at UF."
It seems some people just don’t understand the facts. 3 consecutive losing seasons IS a fireable offense Losing 3 straight to Kentucky IS a fireable offense Losing to UCF at home IS a fireable offense Having an abysmal 1-11 record against your rivals (LSU, UT, UGA, FSU) IS a fireable offense If we finish with 3-5 wins in 2024 it is because one, most, or all of the above took place. At that point to hell with what has transpired since 2010. Burn it all down and start over. And that includes completely firing the entire UAA staff. We need people here who want to WIN football championships, not people living in fear of another Charley Pell NCAA probation and happy with a pretty balance sheet.
What’s with the taking anything “so hard”? I simply said it’s not surprising you’d see it that way. No need to be snotty pal
I agree. Mr 700 can make sure the pitchers of water are full while Roberts is making sure the defense is ready to go on Saturdays
Boy, did this go over your head. My point was that over the years we have had plenty of offensive coordinators at UF that put putrid offenses on the field, hence the sarcasm. Hiring an offensive coordinator is no guarantee of anything, if history is any indication. Some of that history is recent. But to answer your question: I am fine with Napier as OC, as he already has help in that department. But if he feels a need to hire an OC, I am fine with that also. Does that clear things up for you?
On the OC thing. Absent play calling and ball control It would seem, during any major program rebuild that the guy in charge needs the ability to roam, pay attention to everything, assess, change etc. keeping fun stuff that feeds your ego seems the antithesis of that. My take since day 1.
Or stick with a coach with 3 consecutive losing seasons (should we have a losing record this year) and continue to sink deeper and deeper into irrelevance. How many big schools would retain such a coach with 3 consecutive losing seasons should it happen? Well, maybe Vanderbilt would.
I asked an honest question and TBH, no your explanation doesn't clear things up for me. Given the strong call for a full-time OC by many Gator fans, It's surprising to me the way you responded. Your post didn't go over my head. If you are fine w Napier as OC, ya might be in a minority. That's fine, but I don't know why you would respond the way you did to OrmondGator, when so many fans share similar feelings.
