Who's Renewing their Football Season Tix?

I have to say though, if you play Fantasy FB and watch RedZone, it's about as good a football viewing experience as there is. RedZone alone is a great way to experience the NFL and it probably the best "back button" channel ever invented.

 

I live too far away. I go to at least one game a year, but no need for season tickets. If I lived closer I would. W or L it’s still a good Saturday at the Swamp with old friends, food and beer.

 

I definitely was and then decided to renew. Lots of drive time, planning, etc, but gonna see what happens this year.

 

Probably not. To me losses aren’t as painful when there’s not as much on the line. The higher the highs, the lower the lows.

Think “run Lindsey run”….. Think “the choke”. Think 62-24. Think “echo of the whistle” in 1996 — where we had national championship hopes all but dashed, and then think 52-20 just a month later. No Purdue grad has experienced anything close to those extremes.

I respect Purdue, but with the possible exception of 1966 when Bob Griese was a candidate for the Heisman no Purdue fan has ever come close to experiencing the roller coaster ride we Gators have

 

I assure you it was not meant with any malice or undue wisdom. Nothing but respect for 20, 30, 40 year season ticket holders as they are the backbone of a program. It was only a comment that in my mind that after all those years of effort and support it should not cause questions of whether they still "owed" it to UF to get the tickets, if that makes sense.

 

Yeah, it shapes to an extent my feelings about some hot topics at the moment. Particularly lower expectations, because when you lower expectations, they may get fulfilled, but it still sucks.

 

I wouldn't even categorize myself as a Purdue fan, never once paid attention to them prior to attending. I went to school there, I enjoyed going to the games, once I was done, I only watch with passing interest. Couldn't even tell you who the coach is after Brohm left for Louisville. He left for Louisville .

 

Was not meant to be an underhanded comment, apparently I chose my words poorly. Completely agree with the 2nd part, it is why I forget because it doesn't cross my mind when discussing stuff.

I don't get my season tickets for over 39 year's because I feel I "owe" them..I get them because I love my team and school ..win or lose...and I love the tradition and pageantry that goes with a day in Gainesville and in the Swamp

I'm in the UK and I'd do anything to watch week after week. Lucky people!

 

Season ticket freeloader here (my buddy, his family, and entire group basically have a 15-20 seat block - not everyone can make it and I reap the benefits!) and come visit town for home games.

Atmosphere was not like undergrad, the charming years of 2006-2010 for myself. There are good games and crowds sprinkled in here and there. Tennessee this year was great. FSU in 2019 was fantastic. Alabama in 2021, despite losing, was probably the most packed stadium I've witnessed, and I believe it was announced that is the record holder for attendance. I hear stories of Auburn in 2019 but I was unfortunate to not attend that one.

But these are just spurts. It's not the same because the program isn't thriving consistently as it once was. Winning cures everything. Just haven't had enough of that in big games consistently.

2006 South Carolina was the best atmosphere I attended in a victory. 2007 Auburn was the best atmosphere I attended in a loss. It's sad that those days are gone, the evolution of time has taken its toll. But if the program can become as it once was the hallowed grounds and atmosphere will return too. Florida was on the cusp of it with Mullen, then COVID happened and then the wheels fell off his stewardship of the program.

My niece now is an undergrad here at UF and is killing it. Could not be a more proud uncle. Her dad is a triple Gator attending through nearly Spurrier's entire tenure. I attended during Urban and Billy's time. Charming times.

My niece gets a bit upset that she grew up watching her dad and uncle so heavily invested into something so great, to which she idolized, much like I did when my brother attended school. She is here now, with not much to cheer for, but remains as invested as her dad and myself are. She is an outlier with real fanatics influencing her since birth.

Others - more casual fans, but still are loud bodies and lungs, will be right next to the die-hards in the stands.

It can be done. Just win...

 

I went to all those recent games that you named and they were all awesome. I pick one or two games a year three at the most, and I only go to good ones.

 

I will say again, atmosphere last season was outstanding....every game had a large and enthusiastic crowd. My big gripe for years has been late arrival/early departure.....crowd last season was good in that regard too.
I think people tend to romanticize "their" era a touch. I remember less than great crowds in every era, including SOS and Urban years. We remember the great crowds/games and kind of forget those non conference directional games.
I'm in the same seats my grandfather had in the 50's so it is a consistent viewpoint for me over the decades. It's also why I'm not tremendously worried about losing some home field advantage when capacity gets reduced a bit with upcoming stadium improvements. The 72k at the USC game under Pell was as loud as the games under Urban 25 years later.

I’ll buy some Rich boosters ticket on the 50 that’s too lazy to go to the games to start the season and if it goes well, I will continue to do so for a couple more games,

 

It did go up by about $100/seat.

Same here……renewing for 39th time. Every once in awhile I think what football god did we annoy to send us to such purgatory. Always hoping for the best. Go Gators!
