With poor immigration laws (now thanks to Maga) the majority of migration are from central/South America where they are impoverished and live in fear of crime. And also poor from other parts of the world (China, India, etc) and i assume see the US as a easier place to enter and live due to our broken immigration policies (again, now thanks to maga). And of course logistics. How will someone enter illegally into Australia, Great Britain, even Canada. But agree, its a great country to get a start and try and make a living for your family - to a point. Which is something we should be proud of and support instead of disregarding and besmirching the poor as maga wants to do. So not sure how our broken immigration system equates to the best place in the world to live.

"Thanks to maga", really?? The border wasn't much of a concern about three years and three weeks ago. What changed?

Doesn't the phrase "Make America Great Again" imply America is no longer great?

Edit ... I see a bunch of people already mentioned this ...

Fair question. The why is because maga just torpedoed an immigration bill. “Maga” as in the effort to wreck the bill was led by Trump.

this is a big point. We really need to hear more than just from middle to senior aged individuals (and of different races and creeds) on deciding US is greatest country ever.

This was my thought. If being rich is your goal, then this has to be the best place to live with the best opportunities for wealth accumulation. But if being rich isn't how you judge success or happiness in your life, than there is a good chance there are better countries out there for you than this one.

FYI , not a democrat. Thanks for asking. Are you holding out the GOP as some iconic symbol of all that is right and good? Here's a referral to a drug treatment progtram:

Not sure why this is so hard to understand. Maybe you need to read it again. Others seem to understand it.

Is it true that the U.S. could be one of the best without being the best? You as the OP even felt the need to add that qualifying phrase "one of." All this poll seems to reveal at face value is a greater likelihood among Republicans to deal in absolutes when questioned about patriotic sentiments.

"There's another country that's better" is 100% compatible with still thinking the U.S. is in the top tier of places to live. But we objectively underperform developed countries in almost every category that's used to qualify a "great place to live," so there's no objective basis for believing we're still the #1 unquestioned best place to live.

This is honestly a practically useless poll, IMO. All those results indicate to me is that R's are more prone to virtue signaling about their patriotism.

As money is a big factor for quality of life, is there a consideration that debt helps prop up our society? And below doesn’t even consider state or individual debt.....

“The biggest threat to the US is our thirst for debt funded growth and low taxes.” slocala THFSG

Well back then I'm sure you chose to ignore the caravans. Now that a Democrat is in office it is used by the GOP as a tool to get votes
