Perhaps, but it’s gone beyond him, I think. He may have unleashed it, but the base is now energized and it will continue even after Satan calls him home. They now “know” they do not need to accept change just because they live in what used to be a democracy. They have the power of violent fury.

As already pointed out, it’s not Republicans completely rejected this. Voted 214-4 in favor?

Performance art. I’ve never seen a group of leaders fail democracy more miserably than this current crop of cowards and traitors in the GOP. The passionate support they get from people is… deplorable.

a tie isn’t good enough. It was tied last time but one R changed his vote to No because apparently you can’t vote again on a tie. If nothing else changed then some more yes will move it to impeachment.

Disagree, they have a vision for America. Look at Texas, Florida, NC... gubmnts for their vision. Voter suppression, no abortions, diversity suppression, using gubmnt power as a weapon to suppress opposition, reward their patriarchs handsomely from the taxpayers pocket, ignore corruption, reward compliance.....

I used to think that but then I watch JD Vance and others and fear that MAGA is raising a crop to advance the agenda

You may very well be correct. Maybe the remaining real Republicans can sue these MAGAsters and make them stop using the name?

I think we can all agree. Rep Green is the leader of the GOP.

Even if their orange god disappeared tomorrow, the genie is out of the bottle. We will be dealing with Trumpism/maga for decades. There will also be a jockeying for the mantle once their dear leader is gone.

But no one is pulling it off. DeSantis was supposed to be next in line and he face planted spectacularly.

Republicans impeach Mayorkas in historic vote | The Hill

House Republicans on Tuesday narrowly secured a historic vote to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, rallying GOP members after a first failed effort.

Mayorkas is the first Cabinet official to be impeached since the 1870s, a vote made all the more remarkable by Republicans’ inability to pass the same articles of impeachment last week, when three GOP members joined Democrats to tank the resolution, citing concerns their colleagues were abusing their impeachment power.

The articles are not expected to move in the Democrat-led Senate.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) described the vote as advancing “without a shred of evidence or legitimate Constitutional grounds.”

They had to hold the vote today - it passed by one vote- because the Dem that was elected today to fill Santos seat would have made it a tie.
