Transfers is only one piece of it, and that part is likely to get much worse.

The more restrictions and rules, the more cheating. Under the table money has always been there. The only positive about todays system is that players can be paid without getting it from a bag man.

Compare the contracts you were talking about. College quarterbacks are making a fraction compared to what NFL guys are getting. In my opinion, if they had a collective a bargaining agreement, college players salaries would go up. Give them 51% of the total income and tell me how much that is.

There is not nearly as much cheating in the NFL as there is in college. It’s just not possible except for maybe the referees. When the Saints got screwed out of the Super Bowl, a few years ago, Stevie Wonder could’ve made a better call and they had video and still went with that bullshit call.

Cba wouldn’t regulate endorsements, just like the NFL. Apples and sour grapes comparisons. And the draft ;)

There is almost no restrictions on transfers anymore at all. That’s the biggest problem and if they can solve that problem, we will have a lot better system immediately. I really don’t care how much money they make. That part does not bother me. That’s some other fool given the kid his pocket change

The bidding for the initial contract will be there, but ETN would not be a Georgia bulldog right now. He would either be a gator, or he could sit on his ass at home.

Right now there are actually still some restrictions. Just wait until you have kids joining playoff teams at the end of the season. That’s the kind of thing that will be happening if/when the ncaa loses the next lawsuit.

    You know what they say . . . "If you can't take the heat . . ." ;)
TBH I think what gets posted in Too Hot should stay in Too Hot. There are several posters who I disagree with over there, but really enjoy on the other boards. Going after folks on this side for what they post over there is BS.

Therein lies the rub. College athletic associations are not for profit corporations like pro franchises. They are private non profit corporations. They don't operate at a profit; they utilize the revenue they generate to fund their facilities and athletic programs, many of which don't generate much revenue and some of which are mandated by Title IX. The athletes cannot share in the profits because there are none.

A pro franchise can be bought and sold; a private non-profit university athletic association cannot. Comparing a professional sports franchise to a college athletic association is comparing apples to oranges. That is why all of this talk about sharing revenue with the athletes, etc., etc., is misguided.

If football players want a big cut of the revenue stream, then expect a lot of other things that athletic associations and universities value to disappear.

I posted a joke. Later referred to a poster who insulted another based upon what they post on the political board.

Ah, ok… basically it’s jealous pocket watching.

Teams are not loyal… they trade players off in the middle of the night. Coaches aren’t loyal… they leave for a better job the second it’s available. Fans are not loyal… they turn on players for any reason.

So… why is it again that the players looking out for themselves is the bad thing that ruined football?

No, I didn't. I'd explain it, but will leave it there and let ya have the last word. No need to carry on this conversation.

A long time ago, a wonderful collegiate sport evolved in a rarified atmosphere of rich traditions, widespread acceptance of personal responsibility, loyalty to the university and to the integrity of the academic mission. Those days are long over because the world in which those conditions were possible, where higher ideals re "student athletes" weren't so readily scoffed at, no longer exists. Obviously, for some, the underlying concept of fair play within the rules was never a priority. Things have never been perfect by any stretch of the imagination and some programs are historically corrupt. But CFB seems to be going over a very steep cliff at the moment, and yesterday's controversies and scandals pale to insignificance when compared to the current state of the game. I feel sad and angry due to the parade of stupid, short-sighted decisions and attitudes that have brought us to this point. A pox upon the NCAA. Enough is enough.
