    I know a guy who once kayaked down the atmospheric river. Said he would not do it again.

    New storm for California. The Sierra Nevadas are getting 12" of snow and 190 mph winds. Yes, you heard that correctly. 12" of snow! Just kidding. Some parts are expected to get 6-10 feet of snow.

    I was supposed to take my daughters to Tahoe to ski this weekend. Boy, I’m glad I didn’t! The images coming out of the Sierras look downright scary.

    Californians flocking to Florida as hurricanes divert to California. Seems like a fair trade.

    Two questions: why did you use top 13 and why only hurricanes that hit the US?

    Wikipedia has the 16 lowest barometric pressures in the Atlantic Basin storms. 8 happened in the last 20 years. 9 if you go back 30. They have 18 by 1-minute wind speed. 9 in the last 30 years (8 in the last 20). Also, they have 5 of the top 10, according to the Hurricane Severity index, at US landfall happening in the past 30 years. 9 of the Top 10 according to a different scale from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange happened in the last 30 years.
