Sure. Just stop time on Oct 6 and the Israel wall is real effective at stopping terrorism! What a stupid argument knowing what happened on Oct 7! And the Israeli wall was never effective stopping laborers entering from Palestine. And it proved equally ineffective stopping terrorists, sadly.

A wall is a defensible position if guarded by humans. Nobody to watch, and ac wall isn't much of a deterrent. Like the Trump wall. Can't monitor it 24/7, which is why it's breached 11 times a day.

It's like you and the other poster can't read at all. What part of the article were hard to understand? Show me where I said just a wall will work. You can monitor a wall 24/7 with a combination of Border patrol, AI, video, cameras and such. It's almost like you are trying to act ignorant. Again, Biden has the power to stop crossings he is just choosing not to. The Israeli wall was never mean to stop laborers from entering. They did it daily. You are trying some "gotcha" moment because Hamas launched their own "Pearl Harbor" on Israel. No one thinks a wall will stop an invasion. Show me where anyone said that?

West Bank security fence has been Israel's lifesaver - architect

The barrier is only one component of a larger security system. It does not stand alone.

“You can’t just build physical infrastructure, without the necessary security activity around it needed to maintain it,” he says. That means the fence needs soldiers to patrol the barrier, electronic devices to monitor it, lookout posts along its route, passages to allow for orderly crossing, and constant intelligence.

All these antiwallites think that the wall is so ineffective, but their beloved President just approved increase wall construction and the new bill HR2 that the left is clamoring to be passed has funds to continue construction of the wall. #wlm. Walllivesmatter!!

So wait, earlier in the thread you were arguing that while walls dont help against terrorists, they work against migrants. Now you are back to arguing that they work against terrorists despite October 7?

Yes, Biden just basically agreed to do what the Republican negotiator asked. And yet the Republicans will still turn it down. Because, for all the whining about how important this is, it isn't important enough to try to pass even their own policies.

Wait, so now you are arguing that the Israeli wall doesn't have those things? Are you sure about that?

Migrants get more money for food than low income New Yorkers

Of course they do. New Yorkers already do
Their part and 90%+ vote democrat so no need to spend extra to keep their votes anymore.

oh yes I know. The ‘migrants’ have to sign an affidavit swearing they pinky promise to not spend the grift card money on a case of cerveza.

also heard a new term to describe them. Undocumented unhoused migrants. Gotta appreciate the effort that goes into the marketing slogans to obfuscate

The Israeli wall had all those things. Failed anyway due to several factors. False sense of security, simple workarounds that Hamas easily figured out like taking out some comm connectors using off-the-shelf, inexpensive drones. This article lays out the failures rather well.

And again, the wall never slowed workers down from entering either over, under, or through holes.

If we are to spend billions on a wall and would still require the border to be manned 24/7 for all 2000 miles, why the need for a wall? And do we really want to man the border, all 2000 miles, 24/7? The cost would be staggering, especially considering much of the border contains little to no civilization for miles upon miles. Just getting to some areas of the border is very difficult. Housing people 24/7 where there is zero infrastructure to do so would be very costly to build and maintain.

The title of the article is rather deceptive. The debit cards are given to migrant families, the article uses the maximum SNAP allotment for a one-person household. In other words it compares benefits for families with benefits for one person. From the article:

The city is launching a new pilot program that will hand out pre-paid debit cards to 500 migrant families with children, Mayor Eric Adams announced on Monday. The mayor's office told Newsweek the program allots $12.52 per person each day, giving each migrant roughly $350 a month to spend on food and baby supplies—a figure more than the maximum allotment that low-income New Yorkers receive in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.

Single households in New York are eligible to receive up to $291 a month, according to the state's website. SNAP benefits give "low-income working people, senior citizens, the disabled and others" money to purchase food products and do not apply to alcohol, cigarettes, tobacco, nonfood items like household supplies, foods eaten in stores and hot foods.

If the Dems thought for a second that these illegal invaders were not going to vote Democrat for more free handouts, they would be at the border pouring the footers for the wall.

Have you read the text of the bill? I firmly believe the holdout from the pubs, is there is way too much discretion given to the secretary and the Pres. Very little of what would actually help at the border is mandated by new law. Most of this new law provides nothing really concrete different the current laws, so pretty much a big nothing burger on the new bill.

Oh and by the way, Biden was building new wall before this bill ever came to light.

Wait, are you saying the bill doesn't allow for wall construction or that wall construction won't help?

Wow, so then he is doing what you all seem to want. So why are you all complaining so much then? I mean, I'd point out that it is ineffective, but you guys seem to think walls are very effective at controlling immigration, despite the massive amount of walls that we have built and the consistent claim that the border is open.

You said that the bill allowed for wall construction. I agree that it does. I think the bill is ineffective because walls are ineffective at controlling immigration. So why do you oppose the bill when it allows for the construction of walls, which you view as effective means of controlling immigration.

It is almost like you can't defend the notion that new walls will stop immigrants when all the wall we have built for decades hasn't and need to find some way to avoid the substance of that point.

How about this: tell me what policies, specifically, are missing in this bill but would "secure the border" to your satisfaction.
