Think it finally caught up with us. ZP and WC had great looks in the second half they normally make and they came up way short. The prior 3 halves of basketball (plus an OT) caused fatigue to set in. Combine that with A&M’s physical play (they got away with murder in the second half, I don’t even think we got to the bonus) and you could see us make errors that only happen when you’re tired. Loss stings but I think we’ll be fine.
While we played an emotional overtime game against a top 10 team on the road and got on 3 flights, TAMU sat at home for a week resting and prepping.
It really wasn’t a play of two, we got lambasted the entire second half; it’s a credit to our team we didn’t fold and still had a chance to win at the end. We played horribly but we’re still in the game.
It sure looked like it to me. Coach played the bench more the first half than he has all year I thought. That was probably because he knew they did not have fresh legs. The shots at the end of the game were wide open and both hit the front of the rim. Another sign of tired legs.
Haugh once again ignored with only 13 minutes. Doing all the dirty work in limited time. Samuel for some reason gets all the minutes in crunch time. Even Sundvold recognized his stellar play. Not sure why Golden won't play him, but I guarantee he'll be looking elsewhere next year and rightfully so.
Samuel was awesome in crunch time vs UK. I had no problem with Haugh receiving more minutes but also had no problem with playing Samuel down the stretch.
Haugh is good... for a freshman. But Samuel is a much better player than Haugh at this point. I'm not sure why that's so hard to understand and I don't put much stock in your guarantee. And rightfully so.
I think it was Tammy 2nd defense more that anything else., they really stepped it up. Seems like Aberdeen got more minutes and Clayton had more rest. FTs hurt us again
Pullen in particular was coming up short on his shots in the second half. Played too many minutes, particularly when looking at who he had to defend I was looking to see Aberdeen come in for at least a few mnutes after halftime. Auburn has an important emotional matchup at home against 1st place Bama Wednesday night. Although they play a lot of guys, Auburn could be gassed next Saturday as it is our turn to rest and prepare SEC Men's Basketball Schedule, SEC Men's Basketball Schedule and Results - SEC
Great win today, but Auburn was in the same position as we were at A&M last week. The SEC shouldn't allow a team with a week off to play their next game at home against a team that had to play the prior Wednesday..
Nothing wrong with this. It happens all the time in the NFL. It is just that this is a forum of Gator basketball fans. The "give and take" of a season somehow gets lost when the aTm games manifest.
I don't get all this "tired legs" stuff. Back when I played ball I typically shot better when I was fatigued.
I don't get it either, especially when we are talking about 3 days time in between games. How could an elite athlete be tired from 30 minutes of exercise they did 3 days ago?
