While Russia wages a homicidal war against Ukraine, American political commentator and Russian asset, Tucker Carlson, has been visiting Moscow for the last 3 days where he took in a Ballet performance.

Seems wildly inappropriate. Currently Russia is rated a level 4 (Do not travel) threat by the State Department.

Russian state tv has aired Tucker clips where he defends Putin. So it only makes sense …

Seems? That’s generous. Even Lindbergh stopped visiting the Third Reich after it invaded Poland.

As my mother used to tell me, when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

I hope the Russians make Tucker feel at home and give him a nice condo in downtown Moscow, preferably a penthouse that’s on the 50th floor.

It's a level 4 threat but someone like Tucker is safe there. Putin probably sent some of his best to protect him

He could probably vape marijuana in the middle of Red Square while wearing a CIA jacket and not get arrested or even asked to put it out.

Yeah, and while I agree in this case, that’s the sort of principle people only apply selectively, when it fits their narrative. For instance, I doubt many people who identify as leaning left watched Omar’s speech to a Somali group or her earlier comments about the American Jewish lobby and said, “Well, I guess she just told us who she is. We should believe her.” No, they made excuses for her. And it follows you are going to see people make excuses for Tucker Carlson.

I’m willing to test your theory. Do you think we can get him to give it a try?

We all do it selectively to differing extents, especially wit family and close friends who we want to believe and trust. I guess that's really the point of the saying-that it applies to everyone. And it doesn't mean abandon them, it just means be aware of who they are as they will likely do to others as they do to you.

Example-we have a family member (on my wife's side) who has borrowed money from friends and family, and consistently failed to repay it. Eventually they came to my wife for a "small loan" and my wife asked me what I thought because it's my money too. I said treat it as a gift because we'll never get repaid, and they have children that we love who need it. So we gave them some money. And never got repaid. But we didn't expect to get repaid, because we knew who they were.

Even at the very height of the Cuban Missile Crisis our governments were openly communicating with each other. Apparently, de-escalation is passé.

Key word there is 'governments'. Carlson is not in any way shape or form a representative of the US government.

I assume the purpose for his trip is so that Tucker can interview Putin. The forthcoming propaganda, gaslighting, and lies will be breathtaking but accepted as truth by a disappointingly large segment of Americans.

Thing is, you don't have a point. Just some random comment implying Carlson could be de-escalating relations with Russia. Forget to take some meds this morning?

Point: somebody could stand to. Why not Tucker ? Too much of a risk if there are still ample numbers of Ukies to burn through to kill some Russians ?

Kind of off-topic, Tucker wasn't representing the US government, he was in Russia as a tool of Putin.
