Did not do anything? A Complete Timeline of Race Relations Under Obama | The Daily Wire He helped turn Black people killed in avoidable tragedies into martyrs. He would speak in broad platitudes that invariably portrayed Black people as the victim, and police as "not good enough" at best and "oppressors" at worst. Some of these are straight up justified acts of self-defense, like the Michael Brown case. With respect to the more controversial cases, even if you accept that Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner's death were unjustified (we can even throw George Floyd in there even though it was after Obama's presidency), there is ZERO evidence that any of their killings were racially motivated. 1. Martin was already in a scuffle with Zimmerman when he died. There is no evidence Zimmerman killed Martin because he was Black. At best, you can maybe argue he pursued Martin because he was Black. The situation escalated and turned violent because Zimmerman was a moron, Martin had no reason to know the intentions of who was pursuing him. But nothing suggests it was because he wanted to kill Trayvon Martin. 2. Garner was massive, strong, and resisting arrest. That doesn't justify killing the poor guy on purpose, but it certainly makes the cop's job a lot more difficult to the point it's very easy to see what happened there. He thought he needed to use more force on a bigger guy resisting, he used too much, the guy died. There is zero evidence Garner was killed because he was Black. 3. And Floyd was high as a kite, said he couldn't breathe before he even got to the ground, and was resisting arrest. Did the officer use excessive force? Probably. Did he kill Floyd on purpose? I don't know if I'd say beyond a reasonable doubt, but maybe. It's possible. Did he kill Floyd because he was Black? Absolutely no evidence suggests this.
Garsh, I wonder why it's racist to detest Barry and his shitty politices, and radioactive race baiting antics... ...but making fun of "Darling Nikki's" Indian name and heritage, why that's jus rega'lur politcs. just a'nutter day in da snowglobe.... LOL!
You compared Republicans to spousal abusers, which presumably would make you the battered spouse... and you accuse me of playing the victim? Such a clown.
Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, and George Floyd are possibly the worst examples you could use. Also, Obama wasn't President when Floyd was murdered.
I used those examples specifically because they’re the most sympathetic cases. And I noted that Floyd wasn’t during the Obama Presidency. I noted that because the same sort of mentality is consistent with all of those. There’s this odd cultural presumption that killings that look bad across racial lines are motivated by race if the perpetrator happens to be White or frankly anything resembling White.
If black people would just shut up about police violence and racist killings we’d all just great along so much better.
Yes, the mindset that their reaction is somehow the fault of others. Classic abusive mindset. " If only you wouldn't act in ways I do not like I would not treat you so badly" Look it up.
Many on the right liked to point out that Obama was as much half White as half Black - perhaps to undermine the historic nature of presidency, but I'm not sure. Despite his being half White, being raised by White grandparents, and openly talking about struggling with his identity when he was young, many accused him of having express hatred for White people. Some of the same people who might argue that other politicians can't be racist because they have a friend who's a racial minority. I do recall how off the rails Glenn Beck was about Obama's purported racism. I seem to recall that he may have apologized for it in later years but can't remember. Glenn Beck: Obama Is a Racist Fox News Channel commentator Glenn Beck said he believes President Barack Obama is a racist. Beck made the statement during a guest appearance Tuesday on the "Fox & Friends" morning show. He said Obama has exposed himself as a person with "a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture."
Not sure WTH you're referring to here, but I'm not talking about *class*--this forum is pretty much devoid of class, and any pretenses to such, are patently laughable. I'm talking about taking politically driven differences, and painting those as racist--or sexist, or mysoginst, or homophobic, or transphobic, or .... Kinda' like the whole Taylor Swift thing. Pure politics. Put her on either side, and the oppsiong side will view her as demonic, while the side she pix, will exalt her as a hero (or defend her steadfastly). B/c of politics--not bc she's a woman, or a blond, or her music, or whathave you....
It also is directly at odds with her and her family's own experiences. Never racist? Nikki Haley's memoir tells a different story “When it came time for my parents to find a home, no one would rent to them,” their American-born daughter, Nikki Haley, recalled in her 2012 memoir. “Word quickly got around that my father worked at the ‘Black school,’ and besides that, he and my mom were obviously foreigners themselves.” “When they finally found a house,” Haley wrote, “they had to buy it, not rent it. And they were told there were conditions: They couldn’t entertain Black people in it. They couldn’t have alcohol in it. And they had to sell it back to the man they had bought it from.”
