Good point. Most failed states go from being choked to death by a next door third rate power to invading a NATO ally that has had them pissing in their Russian dungarees for decades.

The funding from EU was really important. US needs to find a way to get the weapons flowing again. It's amazing how people are applauding Republicans for essentially NOT governing.

Also saw several articles about Ukraine getting a bunch of new long range weapons - one of which I'm curious to see, because it hasn't been used before in real combat that anyone is aware of.

Ukraine is about to extend its ability to strike at long distance

send excess, soon to be retired weapons to Greece and then Greece sends their weapons to Ukraine....

Biden Overcomes GOP Ukraine Aid Block by Routing Weapons Via Greece (businessinsider.com)

In a letter to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, reported by Greek media, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US would send Greece a batch of weapons and equipment free of charge under the Excess Defense Articles law. The rule states that the US president can authorize the transfer of weapons deemed to be surplus to US requirements to other countries for little or no money.

Under the deal, the US will send Greece two C-130H aircraft, 60 Bradley armored fighting vehicles, 10 engines for P-3 patrol planes, three Protector-class ships, and a consignment of transport trucks. That's in addition to selling Greece a fleet of 40 F-35 fighter jets for $8 billion.

But as a condition of the transfer, Blinken said, Greece should explore ways of providing weapons from its own arsenal to Ukraine, with Greek daily Kathimerini reporting that Greek military leaders have privately agreed to do so.

"We continue to be interested in the defense capabilities that Greece could transfer or sell to Ukraine," Blinken writes, and dangled the prospect of new, lucrative weapons deals if Athens agrees. "If these capabilities are of interest to Ukraine, and pending an assessment of their status and value by the US government, we can explore opportunities for possible additional Foreign Armed Forces Financing of up to $200 million for Greece."

the rocket guided bombs have been used from airplanes but not from ground launched systems. military spent a LOT of time testing them before they would release them to combat. testing started 8 months ago

if they can get positions of russian artillery, these should neutralize all of that. it will be interesting to see what happens if/when russian artillery is taken out of the equation

Russia has been slowly improving their rates of replacing lost equipment. I'm not sure about artillery, but I read they could replace 100 tanks a month now, much higher than anything the west is doing. Given that, I'm not sure if Ukraine has the weapons necessary to completely remove Russian artillery from the equation. I'm almost positive that would require air superiority.

Russia produces as much weaponry in a day as the U.S. produces in a month …

I thought that may have been damage from a previous strike. That drone was trying to hit the same spot to further compromise the weakened spot in the hull.

hold that thought while they await the past due f-16's...on another note, I am fairly certain we can supply Ukraine with 100 anti tank missiles per month or they can build enough drones to take out the tanks as they appear. I don't believe Russia can build, supply, and man 100 tanks a month when they can't even equip their soldiers with guns, bullets, shovels, and food.

agreed. I went back and watched it again and it looks like a breached hull with lots of wires or hoses hanging that look like tree roots or something. one less platform to launch missile attacks from..sucks for so many dead so Putin can exercise whatever demons possess him

Haven't seen confirmed yet, but Ukraine is claiming to have sunk another ship of the Black Sea Fleet, the missile Corvette Ivanovets. Hoping it's true.

I see you are in the competition for most ignorant poster on the thread. Congrats! This is obviously not the first time that a Patriot missile has a confirmed hit on target. Otherwise, why would the Russians quake in their boots at the possibility of going up against Patriots? Hell, the Patriot can even take out the invincible Kinzhal missile, sometimes ten of them at a time. And, no the Su-34 is not a lumbering transport plane. It is a bomber capable of flying at 1200 mph.

    Sukhoi Su-34 - Wikipedia

Competition for most ignorant on this thread is very stiff competition indeed, so it will take more than your "first time in Patriot history" and "lumbering transport plane" remarks to put you in the lead. Keep trying, though. We have faith you can win it!
