lol....and our voice of the Gators has decided to podcast (or something) about "live questions with the AD". This is NOT a wise idea. It would be wiser to broadcast a "live with the captain of the Titanic".
Interesting .......and ironic discussion of softball facilities since folks on the football board already think too much money goes to spring sports.
Is that the one where there's a single fixed camera behind home plate and fans accidentally bump it walking by making the whole picture jiggle. I think they've upgraded now but that used to be a total hoot. My buddy would laugh at me, "I can't believe you are watching this crap."
Hoooooooooooooooooooverrrrrrr!!!! My favorite moment. The walk off single vs Tennessee in game 3 of the 2019 supers
Rick - Thank you for all the info on the broadcasting of games. The same as you. I have asked SS about this and his semi response is Gymnastics is our #2 drawing sport, MBB is #2 revenue and Baseball is #4 draw and #3 revenue. This is why our priority is below them. The upgrade is the answer but SS sees other things he wants to spend our money on. I disagree with him but I disagree with alot of things the UAA does. Give me an AD like LSU, TN, or AL who spends all their money and doesn't send 10 to 15% back to the general fund.
Loved her. Think that 2016 pitch changed her confidence a little for awhile because the next year she didn't want to pitch as much. She's thriving now though.
I'm puzzled by this attitude. As big as a fan of Gator Softball, it seems you would consider subscribing to ESPN+ just for softball season. I have the Disney+ bundle that includes it, Hulu, and ESPN+. I pay $29/month for it. It is well worth it to me but to each his own. I have no young children or grandchildren, so I never watch Disney and rarely watch Hulu, but I watch ESPN+ probably more than any other channel. One of the best perks is if, like me, you fall asleep or want to see a game again, you can rewatch anything that any ESPN/SEC channel has broadcast. But that is just me. It's nothing personal, but I'm just curious.
I hate giving money to Disney for one thing, especially since they're already getting my money for their ESPN package of networks through my YouTubeTV. I pay for YouTubeTV, Netflix, Amazon Prime and Paramount+. That's enough in TV services for me.
You can rewatch all the sec/espn broadcasts without the additional espn+ subscription. You get access to that content with the normal espn/sec subscription through your service provider.
Another thing that's annoying is why we don't have anyone dedicated really to softball... like the alabama guys that do their broadcast and podcast every week... no reason we shouldn't have someone that's dedicated to the team
The USF Softball website shows all their games played on Friday, Feb 9th, Saturday, Feb 10th and Sunday the 11th on ESPN+. So the Florida game Sunday the 11th vs USF will be televised. The Gator's 4 other games played that weekend are not listed as televised by USF.
Here's a site the Athletic Department released of the Softball TV schedule. SEC Network & ESPN Announce 2024 Softball TV Schedule - Florida Gators So there's no listing for the 20 some pre conference games? Additionally, the season opening conference game with Alabama on March 9th is not trelevised?
Correct and it has been that way for years. Tim says he plays the USF tournament because he wants Tampa area fans to be able to see the Gators. Uh, Clearwater is just across the bay and every game in that tournament is on ESPN or one of their partner networks. I suppose the argument can be made you don't need to play two difficult tournaments....Clearwater and California....but many other teams do play both.
I will bet the farm all of the Alabama games will be televised. If one doesn't show, it is a mistake. Alabama is not us. They broadcast all of their games.
The Bama team is OK but not earthshaking in my opinion. Laugh if you will, but one of the best teams out there is the LSU pair. Yvette Girouard does the color and I forget the name of the play by play man. Girouard is the legendary coach from years with the Ragin Cajuns and then LSU. Yes, they are on the older side and fairly corny but they know the game upside and down and do an extremely knowledgeable broadcast.
They must go back and remove what channel the games played on from their schedule, because they show more than a dozen home games from last year with no tv broadcast. We show 10.
A post for no particular reason or purpose other than I thought of something and remain as amazed now as then. Bringing Alicia Longworth up reminded me of something. I said she was extremely open and responsive. That's not an exaggeration. During the course of our back and forth, she actually gave me her personal cell phone number and told me to call whenever I wanted. WTF? I really don't think you should be giving out your personal number to every potential nutjob who you don't know that crosses your path. I never used it, of course, but I bet I still have it saved somewhere.
