At least DV would pour praise on both teams. Bilas is like listening to the Kentucky radio guy's call. It's just offensive. It's the type of color you get when Kentucky plays Eastern Merrimack Tech, when it's obvious that 95% of your broadcast audience is interested in Kentucky. It'd be like Nesler and Danielson calling a Bama Auburn game and only talking about Bamas players, coaches, stadium, concessions, transfers, etc.
I think its more of style of play and what works for the team around them. Wilbekin was more physical and a much better defender. I don't think you could drop Wilbekin on this team and him be as good as he was for that 2014 team, but the same could be said for putting pullin on that 2014 it doesn't work as well. Just two guys who are more dominant on different sides of the court in my eyes.
When UF forced OT, it was almost as if all the life was drain from Bilas. Idk why he was so Pro UK last night, I usually don't mind him. Maybe he just got caught up in the Rupp Big Blue love all day and just forgot there was another team on the court.
Not sure I would agree with that assessment. Not taking anything away from Pullin... he's great. Scottie was likely the best PG in the country that year and was robbed of recognition and NBA draft due to the narrative that the team succeeded despite not being talented. It was a bizarre slap in the face to a very talented Gator team, but the narrative stuck and Wilbekin was a casualty of it. He was killing it in NBA summer and D-league (back before it was called G-League) as well as a long and successful overseas career. He should have been an NBA player.
Different game but Dan Cross remains one of the most undermentioned and underappreciated point guards we have ever had. Just wanted to throw his name out there when I read this. Yes, pullin is up there as well. One guy you also wanted to have at the free throw line in crunch time as well.
OK - I generally like Jay "Blue Devil" Bilas. But your right 88 - Duke, N Carolina, KY, Kansas: When these teams play Bilas treats the competition like they are a secondary thought, and I caught the Bilas vibe of.............wow, UF is hanging around......... Seemed especially bad last night. Maybe Jay dosen't like coach Golden, who knows?
tegator! Yeah and he plays questionable defense at times. He's also a stud - I particularily liked the "block" on one end followed up by a killer three on the other end. Come on te, gotta show a little love toward the Gators after last night!!!!
He makes physical look easy and smooth! I don’t think anything can rock him. He got knocked around a lot last night, tripped, flogged, Hammered going to the rim, spent a lot of time on the floor. He calmly gets up when they finally call a foul, then with a calm expression, nails two all Net shots. The Silent Assassin! Even Cal said to the on court reporter, Florida has great guards! Under Stated, Kat Killers……………
