Conservative stronghold backwoods Illinois board of elections today voted 8-0 against a measure to remove President Trump from the ballot in November, stating they lacked authority to determine whether or not Trump was guilty of insurrection. 9-0 SCOTUS decision incoming hot…. Dumb progressives got snookered again.
Lol... as if they could get away with that in the first place. The Pub controlled states would reciprocate in kind, and we'd have to get the SCOTUS to show us how they interpret the Constitution on this matter.
Yea, this has 9-0 SCOTUS written all over it. I could see Brown Jackson throwing them a mercy vote, but then she'd have to write a dissent that sounded plausible and I don't see any room for that in this case. There have been plenty of progressive nutjob cases come before the SCOTUS and rendered with a 9-0 decision.
I don't think I've heard or read many people (or actually any) claiming that Trump would be taken off the ballots in every state. I somehow doubt you have. Or is this one of those, "one person said it so I'm going to claim it's the entire left/right" kind of thing? Is that it?
I can't endorse it or criticize since I don't know Illinois law. Also, not sure if Illinois will be in play anyway given that the Republican candidate hasn't won there since 1988. Faith by George Michael was the song of the year for those wondering.
There were (and probably still are) several here who thought it would be difficult for the SCOTUS to throw out Colorado's decision. Based on what we saw in uber red Illinois, I'd say we've got a 9-0 decision coming down on Colorado next week.
This isn't about Illinois. It's about Illinois' implications for the case next week in the SCOTUS regarding Trump v. Colorado. Trump will win by 3 field goals.
Could be. I just think it's ridiculous to claim "the left" thought he'd be disqualified from all the states. In Illinois' case, despite at least some thinking it was clear that Trump was behind the Jan. 6 insurrection, the board members didn't think it had the authority to keep him off the ballot. And if it doesn't have the authority, then it doesn't. Simple as that.
