I would agree that Carole King is far more talented than Taylor Swift but then I'm a male boomer not a Gen Z female. As I stated in a previous post what scares MAGA nation and the right-wing media about Taylor Swift is that she has the potential to mobilize a segment of the electorate that tends to vote in relatively low numbers to turn out and vote for Biden and in a close election that could make a difference.

What's monumentally stupid is the right's freakout over Taylor Swift in the first place.

 

I read that poll. As I understand it, she could hypothetically engineer a 1% shift overall. But it’s not Gen Zers that come after me when I criticize Taylor Swift in anyway. It’s like 45 year old male Swifties on the Facebook NFL page I made the mistake of investigating recently.

Carole King is legendary, and the musical amazing. She married four times, if I remember correctly, and was romantically linked with James Taylor, which they denied, but never even dated an NFL football player. Had she, during the height of her fame, I'm sure the TV would have cut to her. Just like, years ago during Montreal Canadians games, the TV would cut to Candace Cameron (Full House) if she was at the game watching her husband. Or when Hannah Jeter (SI Swimsuit Model) would go watch husband Derek play at Yankee Stadium.

As for Swift, I liken her career to Olivia Newton John. Attractive blonde with a very good voice that broke first in country music. Then into pop with a couple of movie/acting appearances thrown in. ONJ had a better voice in my opinion.

Just have to respond to this although I agree with your larger premise. She has been clear that she and JT were "musically intimate" in their ability to compose together and in response to each other confirms as much, but that nothing nonmusical was ever the case, and that seems certain from all my reading on their respective careers, which is extensive.

A better analog of that time to this situation, IMO, is whether we will get a "Hotcakes" album and cover in the future. I will leave it at that.

I’ll bet Travis Kelce has a better voice than his girlfriend. And that gets to my principle lament seeing as how saturated we are with Taylor Swift (and her boyfriend).
