Really hope it works out for him! https://www.si.com/college/florida/...yontae-johnson-selected-g-league-up-next-game Former Florida Gators and Kansas State Wildcats standout wing Keyontae Johnson was recognized for his promising rookie campaign with the Oklahoma City Thunder G League affiliate OKC Blue by being selected to play in the G League Up Next Game during NBA All-Star Weekend. Selected in the second round of the 2023 NBA Draft by Oklahoma City, Johnson has served as a two-way player throughout his rookie season, bouncing between the Thunder and their affiliate G League team in the Blue. The former Gators and Wildcats standout has shined as one of the G League's top players, accounting for 20 points on 52.3% from the floor, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest on top of six reserve-action outings with the Thunder.
Remember when 75% of the people here said he should never play again at UF and probably take the insurance money and focus on coaching? Hit me with bacon and come on mans for saying UF should clear him? Happy for Key, and I wish him a long and prosperous NBA career! Spoiler I remember
If it makes you feel any better, I simply never thought UF would clear him without a clear diagnosis. I wouldn't have argued whether they should or not, just that they wouldn't. I wouldn't have given you any dumb ratings, unless you dished them out first. An untaxed 5 mill and a career in coaching probably wouldn't have been the worst thing that ever happened to him, but it was always going to be his decision assuming someone would clear him. Glad he's doing well.
It doesn't make me feel better or worse. I was confident in what I was saying back then and still am today. It's wasn't about what they "would" do, it was about what they "should have" done. I don't want to see any of those people coming in here now saying "Congrats Key... always knew you'd make it!"
