Each thread is a great opportunity for the whiners to spout their nonsense.

Billy has already elevated himself past Mullen and Muschamp with his willingness to correct mistakes and make new hires. I’ve been super critical of Billy for - lack of aggression, offensive rythym, rout tree and clock mgmt but I think he gets an A+ offseason. You take a huge risk firing Spencer and prolly lose Princely, Nasir and Amaris but you bring in an upgrade in COACH Chatman plus LJ, Slackman, Robinson, Gumbs etc
You fire Raymond and prolly lose Filsaime but you get Douglas, Turner, Grinsley and a young, energetic coach Harris.
Then you bring in Graham, Pup and Chiles at Lb and get lose Lb coach but hire basically a new DC with Ron Roberts- upgrade
You bring in new nutritionist and S&C
Now you get a ST coach? I don’t see how anyone doesn’t objectively say this is a great offseason??

Don’t we want our SR Coach to be on the field?

Joe Houston is an experienced special teams analyst/coach. He worked under Saban and Belichick. I'm sure that Joe H and CBN have made an arrangement that both feel will be very effective, whether he's on the field or upstairs. I believe we will see a major improvement to our special teams.

I'm all for this hire but it seems strange to bring him in as an analyst. He clearly has the resume to be an on-field coach and we desperately need someone on the sidelines to get this unorganized unit functional. Perhaps this is only announced as an analyst until the OL contracts expire and then they will move one out and move Houston to on-field.

While I am glad Napier is making these changes all around, including on special teams, I can think of one HUGE thing that was more pressing than fixing special teams.

Most teams call it playing defense.

It's like the "not-so-special" teams we currently play, but different. Like in Bizarro world.

I don’t know that yet. We will see if this coaching staff is a learning organization or not by the opener with Miami by decisions such as these. If we still don’t have an on-field ST coach and still have two on-field OL coaches by the first game, then I’m going to have real doubts about how much the performance is going to improve. And I’ll bet we see more of the jaw-dropping ST nonsense we saw last year.

Done deal and a great move. Kudos to Billy for addressing needs. Still one more to go as even though our offense look like it put up numbers I still think it can be much better when you consider:

Our offensive line was 132/133 in missed blocks, we were 85th in 3rd down conversions, 63rd in 1st downs, 40th in passing offense, 77th in rushing offense, and 114th in sacks allowed.

not sure what to make a comparison to but almost like the guy that scores 19 points in a basketball game with eight points coming when the game is out of reach… Offense can be much better/more efficient.
Billy makes this move and I know that he is really getting it and again I have to applaud him for the moves He’s already made.

    OC?

    consider the following:

    OC?

offense was a huge problem too. Our offensive line was 132/133 in missed blocks, we were 85th in 3rd down conversions, 63rd in 1st downs, 40th in passing offense, 77th in rushing offense, and 114th in sacks allowed.
