China is playing 4d chess here. They are very protective of local companies. Forcing joint ventures.

Now everything they make need to be Chinese designed, sourced, and manufactured. While other global companies are chasing that last bit of margin selling for short term gain, they are playing the long and want to replace the west, specifically the USA as the defecto super-powered.

Mean while we have clowns on both sides using the Americans as pawns for power and money.

Watch out for our lovely haters that will toss you negative reps if you disparage their "friendly" groomer types.

There are some posters here who obviously had their wives/husbands/girlfriends/boyfriends (and/or blow up dolls) stolen by liberals, because holy crap, to have in all seriousness "owning the libs" as one of your main reasons for voting for someone is just... so bonkers it's hard for me to comprehend.

$50 won't do anything. Trump needs you to step up and donate more. What's more important, taking care of your family or Trump. Well the answer is obviously Trump. We must donate everything we have to ensure that they don't try to steal the election

whoa China designed Fender guitars, iphones, crocs, otterbox phone cases, etc.

Oh & everything must be sourced there?

how does that square with this?

The concern is China simply outsourcing their merch to Vietnam and other sympathetic players, to get around the tariffs. Although I’ll have to research this a bit more as 60% sounds pretty steep and I’m not sure we have a reliable source on this information.

oh, & how is this a national security risk????

SeaVee shoes - made in China, designed in Cali.

Designed in California. Made in China.

SeaVees are thoughtfully designed in Santa Barbara, California, and batch-made in a family owned factory in China. Understanding that manufacturing in China may bring up some concerns, we want to assure you that the working conditions and production techniques used to handcraft every pair of SeaVees are truly the best in class. While we would love to be able to manufacture here in the United States, we simply can’t. SeaVees are traditionally vulcanized, a time-honored footwear construction that dates back more than 100 years. The art of vulcanizing—where a hot kiln molds the upper and the rubber together—is no longer an industry in the United States. The last U.S. vulcanizing factory closed in the 1990s and all of the specialized equipment and required skills moved overseas. Fortunately, our long-standing partner in China has the expertise and shares our same appreciation for genuine sneaker-making.

Oh, I forgot everything is so binary with you. It can’t just be that China was stealing intellectual property and gaming the system by dumping extra product into the market to devalue said product. Trump and Biden are just playing the lefty handbook. Binary decisions.

I am not sure about the percentage myself either, but I am not against the idea of tariffs especially against an enemy who seeks to exploit us to the degree that we are reliant on them.

If it is vital IP for national security purposes, don't let those firms do bidness there; otherwise, keep gov out & let firms make their own decisions, big gov. Plus, I am sure we get the better end of the stick in IP theft. I bet you also believe your MSM when they tell you china manipulates currency & the us doesn't

yeah, china is rilly exploiting us. Oh, & by the way....the trade def is measured in such a way, that apple raping China actually adds to the trade def. It's good to make the rules!

Not every single instance of a supply chain presence in China is a national security risk, but some key supply chains are very much so. Pharmaceutical supply chains are one example.

I should clarify, Chinese goods for the local markets not exports. They want everything to be made in country that is sold locally. It's not 100% now but that's their governments goal.

wow. & yeah, I could do this for SO MANY products. Why are you doing this? why do you provide no evidence. This is the thread of FEELINGS I guess. Oh, & if you don't like China, you should support their goal. Autarky is the road to ruin.
