Union President Torches Trump and endorses Biden. Trump conned many union members to vote for him in 2020 keeping the Midwest close. He’s losing them for 2024. Biden is first US president to show up at the picket line while Trump went to a non union plant and trashed it. https://youtube.com/shorts/Qy4i4Zepe-I?si=KDewM8CQ4o34ZR-s https://youtube.com/shorts/e1JEHhSkDVU?si=x5vgUzJXLdDSz-qQ
After the record breaking UAW contract union support for Biden should be higher than that reflected in those surveys. Also keep in mind that the UAW contract even resulted in significant pay increases in non-union plants. https://www.reuters.com/business/au...-bump-pay-after-uaws-record-deals-2023-11-21/
Heaven forbid Biden should care about the backbone of America’s economic dominance - the working men and women! He should be applauded, not disparaged.
I found Biden injecting the office of the Presidency into a Union dispute appalling. It’s not his place, there was no national emergency.
Meanwhile, if getting the Unions excited about the vote, and their turnout is the difference in beating Trump, this is great news.
I agree though My reaction was more muted. It was inappropriate and not for the President to put his considerable weight onto either side of private negotiations. Done for political points.
This would have been bigger news if union management had not endorsed Biden. Union management knows who butters their bread. These endorsements have been predictable for 50 years but don’t mean too much to the rank and file in the unions.
Biden's decision to join the picket line was almost entirely symbolic. The way that presidents and it applies to presidents of both parties put their sybolic thumbs on the scale in labor-management relations is through their appointments to positions on the National Labor Relations Board and while Democratic presidents tend to appoint pro-labor members to the Board Republicans appointment pro-management members and Trump did so with a vengeance. Donald Trump’s union-busting appointees just incinerated Obama’s labor legacy. Donald Trump, Union Buster Trump’s Labor Board Appointments Are Another Blow for Unions
No the UAW President said so. And even CBS shares the gloom. CBS News anchor reports no one they talked to outside NH grocery store is 'feeling good about economy'
Biden won a majority of the union vote last time… just too narrowly. Trump did well with the Unions for a GOP candidate as I showed in my OP. Trump trashed unions and was called a scab. Won’t help him.
