After the record breaking UAW contract union support for Biden should be higher than that reflected in those surveys. Also keep in mind that the UAW contract even resulted in significant pay increases in non-union plants.

Heaven forbid Biden should care about the backbone of America’s economic dominance - the working men and women! He should be applauded, not disparaged.

I found Biden injecting the office of the Presidency into a Union dispute appalling. It’s not his place, there was no national emergency.

Meanwhile, if getting the Unions excited about the vote, and their turnout is the difference in beating Trump, this is great news.

I agree though My reaction was more muted. It was inappropriate and not for the President to put his considerable weight onto either side of private negotiations. Done for political points.

This would have been bigger news if union management had not endorsed Biden. Union management knows who butters their bread. These endorsements have been predictable for 50 years but don’t mean too much to the rank and file in the unions.

Biden's decision to join the picket line was almost entirely symbolic. The way that presidents and it applies to presidents of both parties put their sybolic thumbs on the scale in labor-management relations is through their appointments to positions on the National Labor Relations Board and while Democratic presidents tend to appoint pro-labor members to the Board Republicans appointment pro-management members and Trump did so with a vengeance.
Donald Trump’s union-busting appointees just incinerated Obama’s labor legacy.

Biden won a majority of the union vote last time… just too narrowly. Trump did well with the Unions for a GOP candidate as I showed in my OP.

Trump trashed unions and was called a scab. Won’t help him.

US bankruptcies surged 18% in 2023 and seen rising again in 2024 -report | Reuters

Jan 3 (Reuters) - U.S. bankruptcy filings surged by 18% in 2023 on the back of higher interest rates, tougher lending standards and the continued runoff of pandemic-era backstops, data published Wednesday showed, although insolvency case volumes remain well below the level seen before the outbreak of COVID-19.
Total bankruptcy filings - encompassing commercial and personal insolvencies - rose to 445,186 last year from 378,390 in 2022, according to data from bankruptcy data provider Epiq AACER.
