Who gets to keep Ukraine? Or does your radical idea involve both Russia and Ukraine leaving the country? Neither side will give up without full possession of the country of Ukraine. So try to think about something next time that is more intelligent and less radical (i.e., foolish). Russia's and Ukraine's goals are mutually exclusive. They aren't willing to share the land any more than you are willing to share your back yard with neighbors down the street who demand the use of your yard ("You get to use your pool on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and we'll use it the rest of the week--how's that?"). One side will need to be defeated for peace to occur.
= "fighting to the last Ukrainian". Let Russia keep their stupid sliver, let Ukraine get on with the existential task of replenishing their utterly decimated military aged male population, stop acting like Russia is the Soviet Union of yesteryear, and... ...let the US get our own damn house in order, and shore up our own damn border. Approx 10 million unknown, unvetted illegals, comprised of 10's of thousands of immigrants from enemy states....and yall continue to obsess over laughable excuse for a military that can't advance half the width of Florida through the Ukrainian mud.... So scary.
Russia occupies a sliver. Ukraine keeps most of its prior land, and salvages a greater resource--its remaining population. Anymore strawman foolishness?
It's up to the Russians to depose Putin, not us or the Ukrainians (unless they plan on invading Moscow). Yes, the ultimate (long-term) goal is to push Russia out of Ukraine. That really can't happen until the two militaries are of similar size, or Ukraine has some massive technological advantage, or Ukraine wins the logistical war. So, try to think of the war as having two phases: (1) reducing and pulverizing Russia's military, and (2) driving Russia out of Ukraine. I am sorry that your meager education has left you unable to comprehend complex concepts such as a two-stage war, but that is the way it looks to be shaping up. Sometimes you have to go through the process to get from Point A to Point B, and you can't just go directly to the final destination. Especially when you are dealing with countries supplying weapons who are led by ignorant cheapskates in the legislature.
Yes, the Ukrainians will reject that with or without our help. You’ll have to do better getting the Russians to give ground if you want a realistic peace treaty.
Let them. If they care more about their land than their people, then I suppose they deserve the death they welcome. As we deserve our own fate, if we continue to elect traitors who hate our country, who in turn, invite people who hate us, into our country. I just hope we aren't quite so stupid as to continue upon the same suicidal path.
Yes, it is quite scary that people without a clue are allowed to vote. How are we supposed to afford to do anything about illegal immigration if we plan on spending every spare nickel the next 10-20 years in an arms race with Russia AND China? Russia will, of course, thank us for gifting them the $12 trillion in mineral resources of Ukraine, and will invest most of that money in upgrades to their military as they prepare to invade their next neighbor. China will thank us for being isolationist cowards as they invade Taiwan and take over their computer chip production, which will cripple much of U.S. manufacturing. You will obey your Chinese masters, pay what they demand you pay for products, and watch your economy slide into oblivion. Interest rates will climb to 10-15% with our money going towards expensive Chinese products and new weapons systems to defend ourselves from Russia and China. Unemployment will soar as we struggle to manufacture things that don't require computer chips AND compete with lower-priced Chinese labor. If you have a lot of nostalgia for the glory days of the 1970's, we might just be lucky enough to see it (if we are unlucky, we'll see a return to the glory days of the 1930's, so buy a good soup ladle and a large soup bowl just in case). But by all means, get your damn house in order and rearrange those deck chairs on the Titanic! Those icebergs on the horizon are someone else's problem--until they aren't.
For starters, the treaty wouldn't be with Ukraine, it would be with the West. Do you think we've all sent hundreds of billions in aid to Ukraine, keeping their country on life support all this time and we're going let them decide their own fate? C'mon, man.. surely, you jest.
Let's at least call this what it is. American adventurism. As if Ukraine actually has any self-identity or self-determination power remaining. It's effectively the West's proxy government now and it will do whatever we tell it to do.
Or dump the dumbass [Chinese puppet] captain who's leading the ship against the iceberg, maybe keep sailing instead of going Titanic. So you go on wiff yo bad self and keep on believing we're destined to be the Titanic, while us *ppl without a clue* figure out how not to be the Titanic.
LOL!!! Remember when they called Trump a racist for suggesting tariffs on the Chinese? Imagine the outcry if he had said "You will obey your Chinese masters, pay what they demand you pay for products, and watch your economy slide into oblivion." LOLOLOLOL
Holy shit the stream of stupid on this thread just got out of control. American adventurism? That’s not what happened Jesus it’s like we’re in a competition for most short sighted and you’re hell bent on winning. And lol at a treaty with the west. Russia might be fighting western equipment but they it’s Ukraine that’s dying so they should probably get… idk like maybe some of the say on a peace treaty. And for those conflating Ukraine with immigration stop acting like the dog chasing the squirrel. The us can tackle both issues simultaneously this whole argument that we need to ignore the outside world to solve immigration is ridiculous.
Quite a few countries in on this "American adventure". Most of Europe is in on it, for example. They seem to be very concerned about Russia's move westward for some reason. And no, it is NOT an American adventure. This is purely a Russian adventure. They started it. They need to pay a price for their barbaric behavior. Ukraine mostly is doing what it thinks it needs to do to have a hope of winning this war. They don't win it without our help, just like the British and Russians wouldn't have won WWII without our help. I'm not sure why this upsets you that we help other countries who need help against one of our biggest adversaries. If they are willing to fight our "war" for us, and just need us to provide some ammunition and weapons, why should we be stupid enough to say no? Ukraine's self-determination "power" is defined by its willingness to fight. That is the one thing that we cannot force them to do. Sad that you have no appreciation for their sacrifice and commitment to freedom. Makes me think that maybe you don't value your own freedom. All the stops the short bus makes on your route are free, so you assume they will always be free.
Of course. But I would argue that one is much more urgent than the other at this time. As in, one combatant in a war (the one we would like to win) is running out of ammunition. That should never happen. Shame on the disgraceful traitors that would consider holding these people hostage to get money for a pet project.
Chairman Xi would respond to your post with "Excellent. I have the stupid Americans right where I want them!" LOLOLOL!!! Any U.S. politician who said anything about "obeying your Chinese masters" would be announcing that he had no answers for the problem, and would be urging the U.S. to give up. Even Trump isn't that stupid. I made the quote to see if it could get you to think about the consequences of the policies you favor, but I'm not sure you're capable of that level of thought. If it's any consolation, Americans in the early years of WWII were just as foolish, and just as unable to see the need to defeat Germany and Japan. They were ignorant and looking inward, not understanding the connection of their own lives to the global economy. Until Pearl Harbor. Lots of clueless people can't see the future. So don't feel bad.
Xi's already laughing, bc he already has stupid Americans right where he wants them. Starting with at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...
