Donations to religious organizations can not be accurately disregarded. Almost every homeless shelter, food pantry, etc in your city and mine is run by churches.

Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, World Vision, Compassion International are all religious organizations.

 

You, my friend, are a true Christian! The one thing he said is what my parents taught me and which I believe deeply: go into a room, shut the door, and pray to your god (which isn't to say I'm against voluntary public prayer per se). Forcing one's religious beliefs on others is anathema to me.

I think this is an unfair post. Contra believes the message of Christ is vitally important in this dark world. We may see this topic differently, but nothing about the post was "unchristian" in my opinion.

 

Let me ad as someone who has worked for the past 14 years in the the non profit sector, that older liberal types are very eager to volunteer time

Compassion is not as lopsided when you take that into account. But more conservatives certainly will sacrifice financially

There is NOTHING RELIGIOUS ABOUT THE TEN COMMANDMENTS... Sinners just don't want to to see the morality of these words in their face, so you call it religious ion an attempt to hide this important moral message.

I went back an read my post again. I stand by what I said. He often demonizes progressives even though Jesus clearly was one! Besides beer, this thread has been about the sincerity and appropriateness of the pastor's position.
