Or maybe we just made bad coaching hires for football.

And had outdated infrastructure, we didn’t fully support football. Pretty arrogant to think we could just show kids a gator emblem and they would get starry eyed.

I understand what you're saying about football being the money engine that drives the athletic department's money train and it deserves to be a priority concern. But the other sports aren't "minor" sports to the coaches and athletes who work just as hard as the football program, as well as the fans who appreciate their successes just as much as football. Florida has had one of the Top 5 athletics departments in the NCAA for 30 years, maybe the best, and that's something me and many others are extremely proud of. That's no justification for allowing football and even basketball to slide into mediocrity. But they both have done exactly that, primarily due to bad coaching hires, IMO. Facilities did play a role in the football situation (not basketball), but that is still not a viable excuse for the situation we're currently in.
As an aside, while you have I have disagreed about some things of late, I do respect your opinions because you almost always back them up with reasonable and understandable arguments.

“ the priority concern” if you ask me. Without football, the rest are dead weight. I know we all like certain other sports but football is by far the top dog and should be treated that way. We’ve had several coaches that crashed and burned but none will be successful without full support. None will take the job without full support. No coach on the upswing of a career will come to a place where they are run out of town without being given 100% chance of success.if other coaches think Napier was cutoff at the knees, we won’t get good coaches in the future.

Bi!@hing about something that we cannot change this far into it is pointless... I prefer to see for myself if these coaching changes make a positive impact on our team. And even with this crazy screwed up SEC special of a schedule we need to win games... As a big fan of Napier that I am... I still need to see tangible positive results on the win side of the ledger this coming season.

Right now I don't give one crap about what some talking head has to say o about our AD nor do I care what they say about or head ball coach. At this point all they are doing is drumming up hate on Gator Nation and all of our sports programs. Don't feed the haters... the trolls.

For how long has revenue from football funded other sports? Is it not possible to have excellence in many sports without causing the football budget to become insolvent and without fan attendance?

Have fans ever really stopped coming? Just curious. I know a lot people like to bring up "well the fans will just stop showing up".

You knew SS was disconnected from reality when he let ACC refs back in the swamp. Guy doesn’t know Gator history. Doesn’t mean he is a bad AD but he doesn’t really have much he can point to either.

Nah, just sounds like more excuses for poor coaching hires/performance to me. Its amazing that Urban won 2 NCs with such outdated facilities. .

Florida Football: Attempt to get questions for Scott Stricklin Q&A goes poorly

Florida Football: Attempt to get questions for Scott Stricklin Q&A goes poorly

A thread from Gators radio announcer Sean Kelley to field questions for a Q&A segment didn't go over well with Gator Nation

Let's take a look at a sampling of the questions shall we:

    "Ask him when he's leaving"

"Ask him why he hired 2 abusive coaches and then tried to cover it up? Ask him why thinks his job is safe? Ask him why his winning % as an AD is 25% lower than Foleys?"

"Ask him when is he going to pack his bags?"

"Ask him if he feels bad about covering up abuse in the women’s basketball program for us. Or how he feels about his hires having a 47% winning percentage. Either one will be good to know."

"Why is an 11-14 record over 2 years acceptable at the University of Florida?"

"Hey Sean. Please ask Scott if he'd like to relocate to Tucson? It's a great city with a lot of charm and great food!"

"Ask him what the expectations are for the University of Florida Football program. Is 6-6 or 7-5 acceptable now?

Ask him, how he’s managed to retain such a high paying job after failing over and over and over again.

Ask him what qualifies him for a raise last year…"

In fact, going through the 138 responses the thread got, about the only questions Kelley will be able to use on his show was "What is you favorite pizza topping"

Man, that brutality is right up there with “Ask Jameis,” which SWAC ended up having to cancel because of the unending river of sarcastic questions, my favorite of which was “What do you feel gave you better protection, the ACC refs or the Tallahassee Police Department?”

Florida State’s #AskJameis Winston hashtag goes horribly wrong | For The Win

Seriously, though, I think it’s good for leaders to have something like this for a genuine sense of the mood out there. If he only hears what he wants to from the people who work for him and/or academia who cares little or anything about football, then he’s not likely to get how bad the perception really is.
