True Detective: Night Country (on Max)

Never watched the first 3 seasons, but wife and I have watched the first 2 episodes of Season 4. As a native of S Florida, anything involving the frigid expanse of northern Alaska has always piqued my interest.

That said, so far we like it, but does seem to be hitting a little closer to certain Chris Carter TV series than a "true detective" story so far.

 

We couldn't get into the Curse (I love Nathan Felder). She loved (and I enjoyed a bit) the RomCom Colin from Accounts on Paramount Plus. We like Poker Face on Peacock and totally loved Mrs. Davis. Unfortunately, we were about the only ones as it was not renewed for a second season.

But Apple has so many shows that really appeal to us. Matter of preference, as so many tell me their experience was the opposite.

 

We liked Colin from Accounts. The Curse seems like it’s built to not invite anyone to get into it.

We liked Poker face too. And Mrs. Davis was great. I really thought it would flame out as it went along, but it somehow took that insane setup and made of it a real thoughtful human story. Bummer about it being canceled.

On Apple, we loved Ted Lasso. We liked Mythic Quest, but we didn’t connect as much with the third season. We were lukewarm on Lessons in Chemistry. I wanted to try Shrinking, but we never did.

 

The finale is supposedly something special, but if it is not, please let me know, because I can’t be riding this uncomfortable train for 10 hrs to nowhere.

 

Slow Horses on Apple is pretty good if you are into British spy shows.

 

I like that idea, although I'd probably always keep PBS, just to support it.

 

that's what I hear. We have 2 eps left. I'll let you know my thoughts when done. while on paramount+ I recommend Colin from Accounts. It is def a rom com, but really funny & really well done IMO.

 

When I was a boy True Detective Magazine was my very religious, conservative, and staid father’s secret sin. The covers were always lurid and titillating so he tried to hide them.

 

I'll stick to the bra ads in Redbook.

 

Not that it much matters, but my thread on Fargo got quickly moved to the Pub because (I guess) it wasn't political. It ultimately got deleted from the Pub for being political. Hopefully this thread will receive a better fate.

 

We can talk about how this season of TD went woke because the new showrunner is a woman and it has lady detectives.

 

Remember, we are talking about Putin trying to reclaim Alaska and how True Detective Season 4 factors in. It is therefore Too Hot material

 

Agreed. Lots of good humor in Colin. I lost it when I saw his name for her in his phone was “Ashley 12k”.

pushed through the final 2 eps last night. My advice is the end (which is quite out there) is NOT a good reason to keep watching. The final ep made me like the show less & honestly my like of it has been on a steady downward drift. There are few people I'd recommend this show to.

 

Transgenders aren't real, they are fake news by the MSM.

 

Someone tell me Donald Trump isn't real. He's not a person. He's what happens when an orange gets rotten enough.
