Didn’t Billy bring in 63 expert nutritionists his first season that were going to have each position group eating a specific way. I don’t think nutrition under Billy is lacking. S&C now that’s a different topic.
Name for Offensive Coordinator? Easy - "Billy Napier", ya know, same Offensive Coordinator UF's had last two seasons.
Who is terrible at having an offense that is complimentary to the defense. Which is, keep the defense off the field, keep the opposing team trying to catch up, not the other way around. Score points, keep scoring points, even in the second half with a lead, which we almost never have. Yea Billy ball TOP, playing catch up, throwing behind the line of scrimmage, of course not making any yardage. He is hoping Lagway can overcome his play calling deficiency. Oh well, wait till the schedule starts, please don’t excuse every loss on the defense. Sssshhhh. Another year with an average high school offense. No vertical passing and putting the defense on their heels. We are Florida, helping other programs with upwards trajectories to get where they want to be. Another uninspired offense to keep fans excited. 500 at best next year with talent to be 7-4 or 8-3. Yea, cheer for Billy calling the plays.
No, just not true at all. Defense was far more atrocious than ST by stats and the eye test. ST needs help, but defense is on life support.
Considering our ST spent 80% of the year fielding fair catches and touch backs Id bet their times they didnt resulted in screw ups or not making it past the 25 at least 75% of the time...regardless both units were atrocious but at least the defense had a few decent performances earlier in the year...ST...not so much.
I like Johnson and feel he is getting the shaft as Sirianni tried to save himself, but he would not work here, he worked well with Mullen.
That may all be true bullish but I'm mearly stating whom I think will wind up calling the plays in 24. I do not see Napier relinquishing the role.
Not sure I agree. I certainly don’t know all the ins and outs but I believe the line of scrimmage is the most important “position” outside of QB. for a coach that wants to base his offense around the run, the OL is crucial. I think OL should have been a priority day 1, considering most OL need time to develop. I have no idea about norvells funds. They got spanx and a big collective from Atlanta I heard. Not sure how they compare to our money.
Do those coaches have sufficient funds to buy the best OL or are we having to settle for lesser talented guys? It would be very enlightening to see our NIL breakdown vs other schools.
I agree, his ego of being the OC is getting in the way. Another year of playing from behind, with our schedule and another losing season, well I don’t think that will sit well with the powers to be. Of course we both want him to succeed, but 3 years in a row with a losing season the press will help bury the recruiting which Billy is good at. Just think, if we lose to UCF, Miami, FSU, Kentucky and Tennessee playing from behind we will have hit rock bottom.
WUT?!?!?! LOL. Our defense was historically bad, going back fifty years. But...I know that going along with the crowd and repeating what they say is always the easy path to take.
This is why I think Napier does not hire an O.C. So I was listning to Shane Matthews and Ally Peek on one of their "joint" podcasts. Ally is all in for a new O.C. Shane came back and advised Ally that he didn't think it would happen. His justification: If Billy knows he is on the hot seat, who will Billy trust to call plays on offense? Himself or someone else?? Shane seems to think Billy will be choosing himself. The offense, averaged about 30 a game under Billy. Now before anyone "goes off" YES, I do read this and other threads. Yes, it's true that UF was middle of the pack on offense in 23 but, I do not disagree with those that argue that the Florida staff recognized defense as being a bigger liability than offense. They certainly seem to be working H.S. recruiting and the Transfer Portal under that assumption by the choices made so far. Me? I would like to see Billy continue to call the plays but thats under a "winning" scenerio. Again, as pointed out, the offense wasn't exactly a thing of beauty or perfection the last two years. I just want to see UF get back on a winning track, I could care less who's calling the plays. Every time I think about 24, I see only one thing...............MIAMI. Ain't worried about anything but winning this contest. I'm afraid a LOSS by either coach, may spell the end for one or the other. I don't think either program can afford to lose this game without dire consequences for one of the staffs.
Just reading articles that speculate, they say your upper football programs are mostly in the four to $8 million in their collectives. They say the very top teams like Ohio State have 13 million in their collectives. If you just look at recruiting that would make plenty of sense. We have enough to buy some very nice players, but not 25 or 30 like some teams.
