3/7 Edit: I'm going to take out my original post that is now outdated since this thread has become an ongoing discussion. I'll try to keep the numbers updated after each game. Florida Net: 27 Here are our opportunities left: vs. (39) Miss State- Q2 vs. (102) Georgia- Q3 @ (20) Kentucky- Q1 @ (49) Texas A&M- Q1 vs. (6) Auburn- Q1 vs. (89) LSU- Q3 @ (102) Georgia- Q2 @ (7) Alabama- Q1 vs. (218) Vanderbilt- Q4 vs. (157) Mizzou- Q3 @ (47) South Carolina- Q1 vs. (7) Alabama- Q1 @ (218) Vanderbilt- Q3
It might come down to either Mississippi State or Florida getting a bid so tomorrow's game will be huge.
if I am adding correctly, you show us having 12 conference games left. We have already played five conference games, so this doesn’t add up.
A quad 1 win or two would be very helpful, obviously. That said....conventional wisdom seems to point to us needing to win half of our remaining games to get in.
I think 10-8 plus one win in the SECt should position the Gators for a bid. That's a record of 21-12. Of course, we don't know what the bubble might look like this year. If there were a few bubble busting conference tourney outcomes, 21 wins could be tenuous. To get to 10-8, the Gators could win all the Q2/Q3 games and get one Q1 during season. Maybe the SEC win would be a Q1.
I think he means 9-9 in conference. Who knows what the bubble is like, but 9-9 we are very likely out. Not good enough of an OOC resume.
We are 2-3 in the conference. 7-6 in the remaining games gets us to 9-9, so, it seems to me that we really need to go 8-5 to solidify a bid.
I tend to look at it in segments… So the next 5 games: Absolutely gotta beat msu and uga. After that, I think we need to win one against Uk, Tamu or auburn. Doing so would put us at 5-5 thru ten games; and give a desperately needed Q1.
From #40 Mississippi St's perspective, this upcoming game against #45 Florida will be another Quad1-opportunity for the bulldogs. MSU already has a Quad1-win over Tennessee (77-72), the league's best team. MSU's highest net-ranking was #27 shortly after their win over the vols. For Florida, this will be a Quad2-win opportunity. Florida has been undefeated over Quad2-games (4-0), Quad3 (3-0) and Quad4 (5-0) games. However in Quad1-games, Florida (0-6) has yet to pick up that first, high-quality win this season. Florida's best win was against #69(-net) Pittsburgh, a Quad2-win. In the kenpom, Florida is #40 and Miss St is #35. Miss St is the better defensive team (adjD #14, adj O #76) while Florida has been the better offensive team (adjD #77, adjO #26). So, I think that this MSU-UF game could be a hard game to get a win since Florida also struggled against another defensively tough team (Tennessee, adjD #2). Against MSU, Florida will need to have a solid, defensive game-plan and play with more poise, offensively (i.e, don't committ too many, unforced turnovers) while looking for good, high percentage shots. Golden needs to be more aware of who is struggling offensively and who has the hot hand.
I didn't realize Auburn didn't have a Quad 1 win yet. That's surprising. South Carolina is surprising me this year. 0-6 in Quad 1. We could easily be 2-4 or 3-3.
