And then go and double down with an insult.

Go do some research about the current role of Mid level this includes ARNP and PA they hardly have been trained the just “assist” the Dr.
You will find that in many states MDs don’t even need to co-sign PA charts anymore, for like years now. These states have realized that an MD isn’t the only one who can properly treat many patients. None of the PAs I’ve ever known wanted to confused with a Dr.

    Aren’t you a Dentist?
Perhaps there’s some jealousy considering that 2 year PA degree has on average a much better ROI than the DDS

Better ROI? LOL That's the biggest nonsense you've said so far. The whole point was insurance companies try and screw us by letting less educated practitioners which you are by far less educated than a physician act like physicians so it costs less to them meanwhile the patient gets put at risk. There is a place for Physician's assistants and I respect them I just don't want diagnosis to be part of the equation. It was never intended to be part of the equation.

We are going to have to disagree some here.

Can you cite how insurance companies screw “us” based on mid-levels? Insurance companies screw “us” based on negotiating power. If you are a great independent you can survive it (And I agree the ROI is then far better than even MDs). But it really is almost a different industry. Medicine is a bit different with Medicare. But on our side (dental)…it is the corporates and their negotiating power that is the problem.

And I am totally good with a good PA as well! My primary is a DO. And my knee issues have been handled by PAs (running 40-50 miles a week right now with no issues after my last knee issue when the PA said you could go surgery but I would not). For surgical…yes. I would want a doctor.

I like PAs. I live next door to 2. Couple of years ago, we had a huge dump of heavy snow. My 4wd would not budge & plows don't make it to hoods for days....but cuz they are PAs, we got plowed out.

Once again you’re speak where you have zero clue what you are talking about.

Saying that PAs making diagnoses was never intended to be part of the equation is completely laughable. Go look up the origins of the field.

I’m not sure why you have such a poor understanding of what PAs can do when it comes to the practice of medicine. Perhaps you ran into someone who wasn’t very good at some point and you’re jaded.

Funny thing is when I worked in the ER the PAs often trained those “highly educated” residents in things like Chest tube insertions, central lines and fracture/joint reductions.
20 years in the ER and I’ve been named in one suit and was dropped out of it after first set of depositions.
I’d trust an ER PA with 2 years experience over a first year resident any day of the week.
You equate more years of book work with more skill and knowledge that’s only part of the equation when it comes to the practice of medicine something you know very little about.

And back to your other comment Insurance companies aren’t saving any money when Mid levels see their patients, so I’m not sure how you’re “getting screwed”.

For some reason you want to lump all PAs in the same boat and paint with a broad brush. It would be like saying all dentists are the same.

Now if you would like to discuss the difference between ARNP and PA training that might be something we can agree on. Or when Mid Levels get their PHd and it says Dr on their jacket, that’s something that I find ridiculous as it’s very misleading IMHO given the circumstance.
