Georgia is 22nd according to one site, and 68th according to another. Further evidence that the portal rankings are a total crapshoot.
I think we have gotten into a weird state with the transfer portal ratings being tracked now. First, it's not really clear what the new individual transfer ratings are based on. Is it just the player's production during the time spent at the releasing school, where a player may have been buried behind upper-classman or all-American talent? Or, do they factor in the original potential that was considered in the high school recruitment, as well? And, what if an incoming school only has a few slots available that they even need to hit the portal to fill? If you have a number one ranked HS class and a number 100 ranked transfer class, are you a 50th ranked team? Do outgoing transfers also factor into the overall transfer ranking (some do and some apparently don't)? Did you fill all the serious holes in your roster, or not? To me, some sort of combination ranking that considers the sum total of transfers in and out merged with the HS class is what really matters, i.e., how much better did you make your roster.
Also, just saw where 247 shows Robinson as "enrolled" now. That's good, because I had seen an article that said he was enrolling "in February." That sounded sketchy. Glad he's in for spring.
If they add the G man it will be a decent rebound for BN and the staff. 24 season is gonna be interesting.
Portal rankings are worthless as they still go by the flawed star ranking from HS in many cases. Many of the kids in the portal did not play. They could not get on the 2 deep. Look at both Bowman’s we took in the portal at RB and WR. Both could not get on the field and the one from Clemson was a high 4 or 5 star in HS. You assess portal recruiting based on whether they earn a starting spot and play. Last year FSU had best portal recruiting as the kids they took started/played at were difference makers at WR, RB, DT, DE, …. Of those in the portal, let’s see how many play/start for their teams. Our portal game has been average. Hit on the kids Billy took with him when hired. Hit on Ricky. Hit on Mertz. Lot of misses. The Baylor OG started for us, was average at best and then transferred out. The Safety from Michigan did not play. The two LBs from Houston and Ohio State were missed IMO. DT from Memphis was a hit. Need to see more effectiveness from the portal if we are to turn the corner.

Pretty sure one site is just rating transfers in, while the other is doing a combination of transfers in and out.
Which solidifies the notion that transfer ratings are currently an apples-and-oranges comparison. What is needed is a rating that takes into account net improvement to your team overall, which should include high school recruiting, incoming transfers, outgoing transfers, and team position quota status after it all shakes out.
