All kidding aside, this is good for Euro domestic political support. Building up the reserves was smart

I have to wonder how many lng plants are going to work in a lower price environment. Renewables are going to be more cost effective than gas and those export facilities are financed by long term money. Lower export should mean cheaper gas here

You understand far better than I on how production and shipping etc. operates. I understand the basics of price points impacting the amount that is produced and exported but not more than that.

My only point, which I was pleased to see, is that it was widely speculated that European governments would lose domestic support to support Ukraine if their consumers started paying a lot more for natural gas. Last year there was an unusually mild winter. it appears this year that there may be reserves. Either way, it works far better in terms of not giving Putin a weapon by making European consumers pay more and thus pressure their governments not to support Ukraine.

You are correct and that is how I understood it before my post. But I saw a lot of Tweets suggesting otherwise, so I thought I missed something. But it was confusing.

Now everything I see is that we still are waiting for Hungary. So those tweets must have been premature, though they seemed to be from reliable Swedish sources.

But from what I understood before, Hungary would not withhold if Turkey approved.

I'm sure the Orban fan club in the USA is hoping he torpedoes Sweden joining NATO.

According to one Russian soldier, Russians are having trouble controlling their prisoner soldiers, they are being forced to storm defensive positions and are being mowed down, and they believe they have multiple people at HQ warning Ukraine about upcoming assaults in exchange for money. In other words, nothing new.

‘60 people lying near LDT, nobody pulls them out’. Occupier complains about losses and ‘rats’

Russia's claims that the IL-76 that Ukraine shot down was full of Ukrainian prisoners, and that it was an act of terrorism, just doesn't hold water. Why would a massive, heavy-duty plane used to haul missiles and other heavy hardware be used for hauling 74 people, when a much smaller plane could have been used? Does the U.S. president's family normally travel around in a C-5 Galaxy? Of course not. Where is the confirmation between Russia and Ukraine about what transportation would be used for the prisoner exchange? That communication is standard during a prisoner exchange.

Ukraine-Russia war: Downing plane was 'act of terrorism,' says Moscow

My next thought is that Moscow cannot maintain their false narrative with these 65 prisoners alive somewhere and take a chance of one or more of them escaping, or reports of them in prison getting out to western media. They will almost certainly be executed and buried out back somewhere to support Putin's lie.

More reports (from the same article) indicate that the IL-76 was flying AWAY FROM Ukraine at the time of the incident, according to geolocation information. You don't normally deliver passengers to their destination by flying AWAY from the destination.

It depends. I wouldn’t read too much into that particular fact. For instance, they could have been diverted en route for a number of reasons, especially approaching a war zone. Best just to let it play out more. Given the poor performance of Russia’s Air Force to date, the most likely cause is a mechanical malfunction. And if that’s the case, don’t expect Russia to go announcing it even after they have the black box.
